:thumbup:I always loved Tim Wegner's Professional Hunter design, from his first colab with Spyderco to his own Blade Tech version. . .
And then BACK to Spyderco with the lockback Ocelot.

Here's mine, now show me yours.

I am loving that CF version! I picked up two Ocelots when they were available, as I couldn't resist that great blade shape.

THANKS! It was my first Blade Tech version. I got it as a meaner "blacked out" knife, but when I revieved it, she was too slick and pretty for carry. Plus I read CF in general is strong for its light weight but can be brittle if dropped.
This run of CF on the pro hunter is not as rough and grippy as the spyderco "peel ply" type CF.

Great score on the Ocelots! I got mine for only $100, MINT, NUMBERED, and BOXED! - I need to find a user now. :p

PS
You CANT be the only Wegner enthusiast that felt it was worth posting!

I should say I'm a fan of Wegner designed knives made by Blade-Tech. ..but unfortunately I do not own any of those anymore. Those are old pics :(
I'll correct this with one Magnum series if I get lucky ...

WOW great pics!
Sorry to hear you had to part with your pro hunters.
Yeah, if i lost my G10 handled one (my only user) i would try out the thicker PH Magnum. they were pretty high at almost 200 but a few sellers have gone down, i even saw one at just a hair over 150, so they're worth trying out.

PS.
what's the sleeker non pro hunter one at the bottom of the pic? is he offering new variations other than the M.E.L.K? I haven't checked his sight in a while. I also noticed there's a smaller pro hunter (non mouse) sort a like the old spydie c49 but its made in china i heard.

thanks again for the pics,
John

The sleeker folder is Swamp Rat Rat Trap.... I still own his one. It is very similar in construction, but the blade is much more usefull for every day chores.
Yes there is a smaller version of the hunter. I believe it is caled Junior and has FRN handles and AUS blade, just like the mouse.... Only that mouse has higher - great looking and usefull blade grind (as it is seen on the pics).

Great ergos on all of those knives.
I wish they would be a bit more available ...I dont actually mind the price as much as shipping option/prices to EU from sellers that sell Blade-Tech and the choise of handle scale colors and eventually other blade steels as you find at some competitive makers. I would buy one with burgundy micarta and CPM 3v and the other yellow G-10 handled with some stainless blade(canoe, water, fishing)

ahhh... some day :)

thanks for the info.
yes after some internet search i found the swamp rat, very collectible now.
but i only have run into one pic of the junior and its no longer on the bladetech site.

we are in agreement over a burgundy micarta! i think a few were made in the mid 90s when wegner had Bugoshweski (cant remember the name, but a great custom maker) do a run of hand made wegner designs. they even made one in titanium handles.
someday i'd love to get one.

BUMP from the dead! :D

Love my Wegner Ocelot:

Anyone happen to know where to get or have a line on a Pro Hunter Magnum?

I guess I'll bump this from the dead too. :p
The Ocelot is discontinued now. Only available on the second hand market. Try the "bay" or better yet, the exchange on forums like this one.
BTW, nice Ocelot.

My collection has grown. I added a pic in the gallery but cant find it, so I'll update my thread as well.
I cant believe only Patsknives uploaded a few pics. There has to be a few hard core fans here. . .
Show us some pics! . . . Here's my updated one:

I believe this is just a flip phone pic I recently took.
I'll eventually use my digital camera and add the TWO custom Boguszewski made Professional Hunters I have as well. ;)

DERP! :p:
Just realized I posted this last updated group pic on a separate thread titled "Any Wegner Pro Hunter love here? (Spyderco or Blade Tech)"
Sorry for bumping this thread up with a pic I already posted elsewhere.
It is however, for some reason a larger/nicer pic. . .

The Wegner is a well and fairly unique designed knife. Excellent cutting ergos and a wide range in grip, allowing different weight in cutting.

Is that dog paw one a limited edition or a custom scale. I'm guessing LE seeing a couple of them on this thread. I like it and Strider dog paw. Or is there a custom all things dog paw crafter?

That "dog paw" is also a Tim Wegner design.
I'ts called the OCELOT and made by Spyderco (now discontinued).
It is basically a similar outline/ergos with the Pro Hunter series, although as you can tell in the pic, a bit smaller.
But, it's in a lock back configuration.
It's also a bit "fancier" with the patterned G10 and the exposed liners. As well as slimmer/sleeker.
The blade is also only "just" VG10, so not as high tech as the Blade Tech made Pro Hunters in S30V or the earlier Spyderco made C48/49 in ATS34 blade steels.
The blade is also hollow ground like the earlier Spydie PH's as opposed to flat ground later produced Blade Tech PH's. (in case you cant tell from the pics)
