Have just started shopping around for a new mountain bike and am looking at 29'ers. Let's see what you've got.

There is a NO 26-inch rule in this thread. There have been plenty of other mountain bike threads. Resurrect one of those if you want to post your 26.

Don't make me lock this one down! :p :D

NO 29'ers out of the whole lot of you??!!

Well, here is the bike I'm going to test ride this weekend.

Marin Alpine Trail 29'er.

Gary Fisher Utopia 21" I know its a dual sport, but with the Continental Mountain Kings running tubeless on bonty Race Lite wheels, its pretty damn sweet offroad!

If I ever get a chance to gather up the scratch, I'd get a Surly Karate Monkey singlespeed. What a versatile bike.

I have an original 29er, aka a cyclocross bike, but I don't think that's what you're looking for. ;)

Oh heck, I'll bite (trying to keep the thread semi-relevant)...

Bianchi Volpe w/ bar-end shifters, Salsa Bell Lap bars & stem, Brooks Professional saddle, and Continental TravelContact tires

What happens on a steep incline with a single speed bike like that ?
Even 100 years ago I was riding a Schwinn with a 3 speed internal hub.Chrome fenders and all.
That was ridden on flat ground.
My first ten speed, a Schwinn World Tour, was like riding a UFO in comparison.

This is a Raleigh DL-1 roadster. This one was made in 1978, but the frame geometry (67 degree seat tube and 46" wheelbase), rod-operated stirrup brakes, and 28" wheels dates back to the late 1890s, when most roads weren't paved. The Sturmey Archer 3-speed hub has been around almost as long. The the outside diameter of the tires is bigger than those on a 29'r.

It has an incredibly smooth ride.

As for the single speeds, I started riding one in 1974, it was my Peaugot track bike. I've set up and ridden many one speeds over the years.

I got a lightly used Fisher Superfly a few months ago. I am very pleased with it. My previous bike was a full suspension Marin with those other size tires. A very sturdy bike but very heavy. The Superfly is astonishingly light and responsive.
