I would like to see your bowie knife, you have carried on a hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, trip. Give a little info about why you chose that particular blade.

This old Bagwell has been strapped to a few packs and seen some sights

Reason why

He makes a great knife you can count on

I'll be seriously shocked if anyone here EDCs a custom bowie.
Gotta' agree.
I surmise a lot of folks use hunters in the 3" - 4 1/2" range.
Similar to these 2 Fitchs in DI.

And this DH3 handled in that Missouri walnut I like so much.

Now, of course, Joe P can probably filet brookies or browns with a Hell's Belle. :D

Here's a 10" Fitch Bowie I sometimes wear while walking my property. :)

Here's an old picture of mine. Yes, I really did carry this every day for months on end, when I spent almost all my time working outdoors. I carried it through my belt, and since it uses frogs instead of a belt loop, it rides higher to stay out of the way, and is easy to remove one handed if I did need it set it down for some reason. Neither of us get out very much any more, though.

It's about 24" overall, balanced to be fast in the hand, yet strike with authority.

Glad that beast is still making you happy :)

Hope all is well

I miss chatting

Call sometime :)

I've got a few bowies but don't really carry any of them. When I select a big knife for the field, it's invariably a camp knife.

Ah, the bowie...the devastating weapon, the invaluable tool. It is a shame more folks don't carry them. If I was to choose one knife it would be a well made bowie. It is the essence of the knife...slice, slash, hack and stab. What more could you want in a knife?

That's exactly the way I think I am pretty astonished not a whole lot of people carry a well made bowie for camping, hiking and hunting ect.

I carry one of mine all the time when working or playing in the outdoors. This is the one I have been using of late.......simply because it's the only one I have left. I use them for everything from cleaning fish and game, to clearing brush and cutting small logs for campfires.

I have settled on a clip point of 9 to 10 inches of length and not too wide as the most versatile for me.
Another one that I would have carried if it hadn't sold.

I actually carried this one for a couple weeks, then got talked out of it.

Some very nice bowies there, Darcy--I like the lines of all three, and they all look comfortable to hold/use.

(Joe--shot you an email, buddy.)

I agree with you Ben. To your point an early American once said "a Bowie had to be sharp enough to use as a razor, heavy enough to use as a hatchet, long enough to use as a sword and broad enough to use as a paddle".

I don't get much chance to carry a Bowie, however if I did these are the ones I would most likely carry.

Kevin, the stag taper and the blade profile on that Fuegen are da bomb, my friend. Such a knife.

Le Seb, that Monnet is a beautiful knife, and that first image is exceptionally well-composed--nice.

Hello!

I lug around larger knives on a pretty regular basis, most of the time it's Khukri-esque though:

(fairly recent addition that has been out with me for the last couple of days)

Other than that it's typically the odd "camp knife", tied to the backpack. The only Bowie-like knife I have with me from time to time is this one (in a working-outfit), but then again, it's more of a fighter than a Bowie I guess...

Best regards,
