So I was asking calc about the Mashed Cat sheath for his RMD, and what he had added to it for the pouch and f/s loop, and it got me thinking we could use a thread on the subject. If you've got something you've added to a sheath, whether your own concoction or requested from the maker, show us what you've come up with!

Makers, feel free to lay it on us as well. :)

Here's one I requested from Noe Leather, just slightly different than one of his standard builds. X-back with removable drop loop and retention strap for an RS.

In case you haven't already seen this video, this little piece of work fits any kydex sheath drilled with holes 3/4" o.c. I originally made it for my Survive! knives, but it fits my Rodent 9, HRLM, and Hog Muk (all with Azwelke sheaths). Would work with leather sheaths with similar holes but few are on the market *shrug*

That's a slick little number there CG. I like the way it lowers crossdraw carry to keep the handle out of your ribs.

You know, I don't know why, but I had just never really thought of adding attachments by using paracord weaved through the eyelets. I was always trying to get eyelets lined up. This is such a simple solution to the problem of non-standardized eyelet spacing.

HK we are in the same boat on this one. I have para cord laying everywhere and it never crossed my mind.

I would like to say it was a 'light bulb' moment for me, but it was really more like a Homer Simpson moment...

D'oh! Why didn't I think of that, LOL!! :D

Coming up with a sheath idea or design is half the fun!!

Here is my survival setup.... It fits the RMD CG, and surprisingly also fits the RMD saber ground drop point brotherhood blade excellently as well. Also holds a scrappy!!

Switched from the orange handled firesteel to an antler one, and it can also hold the Sawyer mini filter if and when needed.

And there is a spot on the back for an esee arrowhead..

Surprsisingly compact for everything thats shoved together.

And here is a Becker BK14/24 setup with custom Bocote beads and a streamlight Nano flashlight.

I was hoping you'd post that one up WW. And that Sawyer Mini filter fits pretty good there.

Here's one of my setups, a shameless knock-off of WW's :D :D I went with a warden for the skeletonized blade, and dedicated the contents of the tin to prepared tinder, some stormproof matches, and a couple of cr123a batteries. I also changed out the orange-handled firesteel and went with the Exotac firerod. The Exotac will hold about one-half of a petroleum-jelly cottonball sealed in the handle.

Wrapped some small cordage around it where it would be out of the way

And some extra cordage packed in under the tin

Thats sweet HK!!!

Did the exotac easily fit into the same firesteel spot that the orange one was in?

And if there is room in your tin you might could add a piece of steel wool...... Steel wool and a battery is an easy way to start a fire!! I have done it with a CR123 too.... Of course you could also use aluminum foil, a piece of wire, a staple or anything else metal pretty much.... Yea yea i know its jail house style LOL but still a good easy fire backup. And learning and having multiple ways of making fire is always a good thing!!

I prefer steel wool because its faster to get going, doesnt take but a minute and once it gets going it stays HOT for quite a while to help you get a good fire going.. Now Its easy to light a cigarette with a couple batteries, aluminum foil and a staple or paperclip, hell even 1 battery and the aluminum from a gum wrapper will work in a pinch... But getting a good fire going that way is not as simple. I learned its easier to just light a cigarette and use the cherry from the cigarette in the birds nest LMAO

Oh yea.... Im probably going to copy where you store your paracord :D Neater appearance than the way i have it on the side!!

Hey bud, sorry, I was in the hills for a few days. Yes the Exotac fits right in the existing holder, and it throws a good hot spark. Thanks for the reminder on the steel wool. You're right on about multiple sources for starting fire. I've lit it easily with a 9V but wasn't thinking in that direction with the 123's.

No worries bud, hope you had a great time!!

And thanks for the info!! I have a nanostriker XL on my keychain for emergencies, its small but i have used it a few times without any issues. Eventually i may need to grab the firerod for the sheath.. Exotac makes some good looking steels.... But i already have more steels than ill ever use LOL... My favorites are the antler ones that i got from member Dexwithers here on BF, they are excellent!! Look great and have enough handle to really be comfortable using all the time.

And a 9V is easier to use for sure.. But the CR123s work fine too. Of course you have to have a big enough piece of steel wool to touch the top and bottom of the battery, but they are small batteries so its not that much an issue.
