Haven't had a chance to take a pic of my knife, but the one on the Orvis website was so nice I figured I could borrow it. Got this little beauty from my mother today. Heading to the river Friday, so I'll let you guys know how she performs. Made in Italy, the workmanship is pretty good, but not quite to Swiss standards you see in the SAKs.

Cool! Let me know how that nail knot piece works. I currently use a short hollow part of an old radio antenna to make my nail knots.

This morning I was surprised to have received a French Laguiole knife from my brother-in-law. Very nice gift indeed. Later today I will post photos of it since we are leaving to have breakfast with the in-laws right now.

Merry Christmas!

Well, not officially Christmas knife but was ordered today, hope it has as nice
of stag as shown on their photo from their website, borrowed and edited slightly

Bulldog whittler, 3 1/2" closed with carbon blades, looks quite handy :)

these were from my Dad...a German Bull Jr Soddie in stag and a couple old Normarks. The Soddie I asked for, the Normarks were some he found in the basement.

Here is the Laguiole knife that my brother-in-law got me for Christmas. Seems very nice and he gave me the entire background about them and pointed out the details about it such as the "bee" and the Shepherd's Cross located in the handle. He indicated the wood was pistachio wood and the steel was T12 which I had never heard of. The file work is nice, too. I was very surprised about this gift and while I don't think I ever would have bought this for myself, I really like it. I like the fact my bro-in-law researched it so well for me. He is more of custom tactical knife kind of guy. His brother is a ebay tactical knife and flashlight dealer and he gave me a nice little CRKT Koji Hara Ichi knife that I am not including here other than to mention it.

Now that the giving is over and done with, I just ordered a Queen Cattle King for myself. I have been lusting over this knife for quite some time now...

Well nuts no knife :grumpy::grumpy: but hey but I did get a subscription to guns and ammo and handgunner so I'm a happy guy:D

I did buy myself a peanut for Christmas (big surprise, eh?) I got it a couple of weeks ago but put it away until this morning. A Case XX. It came from the son of a Case dealer and has been in storage since the 60's. Looks brand new.
Can you imagine a peanut that is 40 some odd years old and has never cut anything or never gone for a ride in somebody's jeans pocket? I intend to correct that oversight. This puppy is about to have some new experiences.:D

That's a pretty tasty peanut there, Rob!

I like that picture of your Christmas knives, Elliott. The contrast between the stag and ivory looks good together. Those are a couple of fine knives.

I'm told children who have been naughty find lumps of coal in their stockings. Do naughty knifeknuts find knives with handles of lignite or anthracite in their stockings?

That's not what I found that was dark colored Rob.. That's sure a nice double X you got, I think it's bone is it? If I'm not mistaken the early delrins didn't have a outline around Case on the shield...

Great stuff you guys are showing.

I didn't get any new steel, but I did get this traditional recurve pointy thing. The bolsters are kinda fruity, but the fit and finish is naturally fine.

Merry Christmas all you knifeknuts!

Yup, it's bone. Thanks for the info about the outline around the Case being a tip off for bone. I did not know that.

There are many exceptions. (But I don't know what years the exceptions begin.)

Case stopped puting the circle on delrin or wood handles in 1973 or 4. Before that they both had the circle on the shield.
