T you remind me of me when I was younger. Nice racks and I especially like those high-horned heads. At one time I was hunting the South Carolina lowlands quite a bit and saw heads very similar to that--are those from down near the coast?

Here's one I still keep around--

Pitched a quart of Antlermax off the deck of my office while I was posting earlier and just went back to see if I had any live ones for you guys. You can tell they're still in the rut here--necks still big and hides torn up from fighting.

Why thank you my friend. I am honored with such a compliment:cool:

All of those racks came from Northern VA mostly from Haymarket and surrounding area. Its all bow, shotgun, or muzzleloader with a lot of backyard bucks so they get a chance to get old.

But Im in SC now so if you want to give me some hints and pointers where I might find em here I would be in your debt:thumbup:

Also, you now have a place if you want to come back for a visit cause Id love to come to New Mexico;):)

There used to be some state-managed lands adjoining the Francis Marion National Forest that they'd hold management hunts on, where you could go scout ahead of time and then hunt for a given number of days. There was a time I hunted the national forests, but they got so crowded there I gave it up. I'm pretty sure there are still private ranches you can lease for hunting in that low country, also.

That's a very tempting invitation, but if you want to see me here in New Mexico you'd better get out here in the next 60 days. This country has gotten too small for me -- heading west again. ;)

Dang partner, your hard cow poke to keep up with:thumbup:

Well, its got to be good to pull you from that beautiful home you have currently.

But, as difficult as my move here was, I am glad its done. When you get settled in new place let me know. You can fly in here cheap and we can put our feet in the sand, have a drink and do some fishing:)

You have an exceptional eye for deer. All the racks in my post are South Carolina Deer. Killed in Edgefield and Allendale before I moved West.

This thread is great! You guys have put up some great pictures, awesome racks everyone (boy does it feel weird saying that) :) I'm loving the decorations you guys have hung on your racks, very nice

Thanks mate, the Rusa took a great deal of hunting (in the process I managed to garner the attention of a couple of French Helicopter Gunships but that is another story) over a week. Bad weather and a few other things combined but the end result was worth it....and I DID discover that Fruit Bat is a pretty tasty meal... ;)

Not the biggest or the best but was interesting enough to have mounted. Pic doesn't show it but there is a drop tine on the small side that travels down behind the ear 4-5 inches.
