With all of the models Buck has done over the years, there should be plenty of 1st Version, 1st Variation knives to show. Show yours and don't worry if someone has already posted your model.

I will start with the 305 first introduced in 1968. This was a contract knife by Camillus. There is no model number, but there are handle pins and a small EZ open notch.

I MADE A CORRECTION. ORIGINALLY I TYPED THE DATE 1966, BUT IT SHOULD BE 1968. THANKS, DESOTO.

Bert

Hello Bert. I just returned home two days ago.
Just in time to post in your thread. :)

Here is one of my 110s…..

Good to hear from you, Mark. I thought you had disappeared into the ozone. Also, that is my favorite 110.

Not gone…just spent some time playing away from home for the last six weeks.
Here is another old picture that I believe is a 1st/1st 112.

The first Buck sheath for the 110 .

And the knife that came with that sheath .

Where Stumps leads, I will follow. Here is a 301 that is a little different. It was repaired with through rivets under the Buck Warranty. Buck only did half a dozen or so of these repairs before deciding it wasn't a viable repair and that it was costing too much in time. After that they just replaced the Schrade knives instead of repairing them.

Here is a 1st 313 I got from a kid when i was in High school....wow long time ago:eek:

First Vanguard, 1991 date code. Vanguard hit the stores in late 1991.
The coloration is storage film on the blade.

In keeping with bertl's opening post, here is the first 305 actually manufactured by Buck. (no date code c.1985.)

First year of factory production, a barrel-nut 118 with leather spacers. (c.1961).

What a great thread! I love looking at . . . and envying , all these great old firsts!

Dale you have done a wonderful job at maintaining that sheath. It looks great.

First 311. 311 Stamped on reverse of main blade tang. But look for scale rivets to make first.

The 303 is my favorite carry knife in the 300 series. The 1st Version was made by Schrade for Buck. The blade rivets are not visible, there is no model number on the tang and there are handle pins.It was produced from 1966 through 1967.

Here is the 1st version of the 317. A Camillus contract knife. The 317 stamp is on the pile side. These were only produce from 72-74 before the stamp was put on the other side.

Here is a 317 to go along with gsea's. It isn't exactly a 1st/1st. Generally it's thought of as a salesman's prototype.
