Let's see what type of holsters you guys are using, I'll try to get some pics of mine up later.

These are the original sheaths that came with my JK knives, but decorated with antique domed brass tacks Southern Plains or Mountain Man style, worn with a Colt's Dragoon in an El Paso Saddlery 1849-style Californian slim jim on a Texas belt:

(I might try gluing a thin 1/4"-wide strip of deerskin with Commanche-style black and white beadwork along the welted seam of the larger ones. Or not.)

Savoy Leather also made me a belt with the 'LA Open Carry Advocates' stamp and 'We The People' inscribed on the back side.
That along with the LA State Seal makes for one fine Belt!

I posted this earlier but it is an OWB thumb break holster for my Rock Island Armory 2011 VZ tactical with the full length rail. It was custom made by Gaunt Leather Works along with a single mag carrier. I had to have a holster custom made as the rail is slightly out of spec compared to most other 1911's and no one made a leather holster for it when I originally bought it.

That right there is one pretty piece of leather, I think everyone should own at least one good handmade leather belt.

Thanks. Its looking a little dry now that I see it in these pictures.
Ill have to soak it down in some Leather Honey when I get home.

How do you like that RIA 1911? I've read lots of good things about them.

Those sheaths look really nice!

I don't get to shoot it as much as I would like but for the money they are probably one of the best buys for a reliable 1911 at their price point and probably even a couple steps up. I'm at about 600 rounds with no failures of any kind. When I first got it I loaded an 8 round magazine with 8 different rounds HP, FMJ, frangible, and all kinds of different bullet weights from 150 GR to 245 GR and it fed flawlessly. You can get a G.I. model for under $450. The one major thing is like any other gun buy good magazines, I use Chip McCormick 8 round star mags with Pachmayr base pads. A lot of people try to use 9-12 round mags which the platform wasn't designed for then they get failures and act suprised:confused:.

Also they are famous for selling "display" models for discount the just have minor finish wear from handling. The store down the street had three G.I. show models for $312, I almost bought one just for the investment but money was tight at the time.

I only use Chip McCormick 8 rounders in my Kimber, no failures in over 8000 rounds.

I just laugh when people do all kinds of weird things with their guns then get upset when they don't function properly. I always have this image in my head of them trying to shove a 9 volt battery in their 2 AA tv remote at home and then freaking out when it doesn't work.

Thanks darkmatter, it's a heck of a piece of leather. I've been carrykng this one the last few days as chance would have it.

Heres my two pieces of gun leather.

Savoy custom with Sheridan floral carving background and a fleur-de-lis. Also I added a retaining strap for those tough times pushing through the woods.

El Paso Saddlery Tanker shoulder holster.

Yes, that CSA stamp stands for Confederate States of America.
No, im not a racist bigot.
I am very proud of my heritage and my location in this country.
If you want to discuss my stand on the confederacy, PM me, we can talk about it. :p

I have to say that the shoulder holster is my favorite. Its very comfortable and allows me to sit down while still wearing the Beretta.
The Savoy is really nice to wear if your going to be standing or working for awhile.

Vintage Roy Baker Pancake holster for 1911.

Hunter Corporation Full Flap holster for 1911.

I like that Hunter Flap holster. I bet it really helps in keeping crud and debris from falling down all over the 1911.
