Last night the kids and I made our jack-o-lantern for Halloween. As always, they do the design, and they pluck out the pumpkin guts -- and I do the cutting, while my wife toasts the seeds in the oven with a little salt. This year I did the whole thing with my Schrade 33OT Middleman Jack. Love that long slender blade; lots of control on turning cuts.

So, what about you guys? What'd you cut up your pumpkins with?

I would like to ask you an off topic question.
How long and temperature when you roast the seeds?
Many thanks

I thought about using the Sodbuster, but I have my kids carve their own. Crappy safety knives over here. :(

Those things are butter knife dull too! Painful to watch, but they have fun, and that's all that matters. I guess. :D

Just the slightest bit of vegetable oil swirled around the pumpkin seeds, then salt to taste. Baked at 350 for 13-18 minutes should do it. Note the insides can roast quicker than the outside and you have to kinda roast it by feel depending on what humidity your environment is. Sometimes you have to give it a little bit of extra roast to make sure that the seeds roast up crunchy!

I brought some of ours into work today!

Don't have any pics, but we had 2 pumpkins and did ours last night. The large pumpkin had started to rot so we couldn't carve it. We had a smaller pumpkin and I used a Buck 110 hunter for most of the job. I used a case mini muskrat for the more detail work.
