I just got this 721 back from Chase at Chax Knives and I thought I'd post a few pix of the two mods that he has done for me so far. They are a Spyderco Native 1 that has green & black G10 laminated onto it, and a BM 721BK that has half scales of chain link CF behind the original G10 scales. We left the G10 back to the AXIS slot to act as bolsters.
Both knives were pretty thin originally. I like a thicker handle and the work that Chase did for me made these two much more comfortable to use. He'll be starting a scale job for me on an H&K 14210 in a couple of weeks. We hope to replace the factory G10 with a natural material like bone or antler.
I also received a nice letter from Chase during the process of working on the 721. He agreed to let me share it with the forum members:
"Dale, my brother, i appreciate how you trust and value my work and also how you have no compunctions about taking care of my expense in projects. I enjoy this condition with many of you, but you can bet i won't stop appreciating this. You are my blessing here. You also know that i respect your money and will not want to sweep it out of your pocket for just a little extra concern and work on your projects. Knives take that extra work, but times are hard they say, and you all know how i can make an extra 20 bucks pay for a couple/few hours of work. Maybe this all is why i can dare to feel i will be ok in you guys' hands, and "make it" thru. chase"
Nice work, Chase.
