So how many of you have friends who are true believers only after you show them your RAT/ESEE knives? I showed my Izula and RC4 to one of my best friends, and within two days he had ordered a RC5 and an Izula! He had never even heard of RAT/ ESEE before, and now he’s a huge fan. :D

I told my wife's brother and cousin (who helped me build my debris shelter) that if I won I'd get them each a knife.

I bought them both Rat 1 folders.

They love 'em.

I want to get my dad an ESEE-3 next (and one for myself!)

He doesn't currently own a fixed blade, and I think he'll love it.

I've got a buddy who's been talking about needing a good knife - he's looking at an RD4 or a quartermaster knife from Ontario, so I scored a used RC3 the other day that I'm getting ready to mail him as an early B-day gift.
share the addiction!

Ha ha! As soon as you give them a sample, they have to go spend money and buy their own. Holy Jeez, it's like we're drug dealers, only the drug we're pushing is just pure razor edged 1095 goodness!

I've got a friend who's really into camping/backpacking, and he carried around a KA-BAR in the woods. He asked me if he could borrow something a bit smaller. I let him borrow my RC-3 and he was hooked.

That is totally me. I've used my USMC Ka-Bar for quite a while now, and now that I have an RC-4, I find myself carrying it WAY more than my Ka-Bar.

I think everybody in this forum showed me the light, I made the first step and ordered me an izula and rc 4, they should be here in the next couple of days, thanks for turning me to the dark side!!!!!!

What?! Paid labor! Now the truth comes out. :D

I showed my HEST to several people that I work out with. For the price they really liked the knife. They are now trying to come up with the funds to get their own.

I just recently got my first ESEE (RC) knife, which was a RC-3 in a trade. After getting it I decided that I needed the RC-4 also, which I was lucky enough to pick up here on BF. My buddy came down to the house one afternoon and we were discussing/planning a hiking trip, and I pulled out my gear to show him my new pack and knives, and he really took a liking to the RC-4. He asked me to be on the lookout for him one so when I had the opportunity to pick one up, I did. He is supposed to come down today to pick it up. As land surveyors, we're eyeballing the machete now. :D

I've given a couple of RATs to friends of mine and at the very least showed them off to everyone else. I've made a few converts.

first off a pal of mine showed me the light, so to speak. he gifted me with an izula. many of my knifeloving buds are really really picky about what knives they carry and use. several have oft been heard scoffing at what they perceive as "tactical" style knives. but so far two of these guys have bought hests after fondling the hest i often have in my bag. they found it practical sensible and well made. one of them had already purchased an izula after seeing the one i edc. these are lifelong knifeknuts who have done a great deal of hiking/camping/hunting over their lifetimes and can be pretty opinionated about what makes a good knife. all in good fun tho, all in good fun. peace

Well the groomsmen in my wedding are all getting Izulas. So hopefully they get addicted with those and move on to purchase their own.

I get a lot of steak knife comments. Then I hammer one through a log. Usually generates some interest.

I'm having a big 40th birthday shindig here on my farm in a few weeks... friends from college are flying in from different parts of the country. One of them is a huge knife snob. Likes the real expensive stuff, Sebenzas, etc... I'm planning on having an RC4 to show him then to see what he thinks. For me, on the farm, in the country, in the woods, an ESEE is the way to go... built like a tank, excellent price point, etc. whereas he has case queens. However, he also sees the value of EDC and doesn't want to damage his precious expensive blades, so maybe he'll come around to the RAT Pack... we'll see...

When my wife and I first got together, she made a comment once that my "hardcore knife" (an Ontario Rat) just looked like a kitchen knife to her. Now SHE's the one smashing RATs through logs and proving the points. She's come a long way. Unfortunately, that also means that all my really good knives seem to be migrating to her collection. :grumpy:
