Thanks for Watching... and if you have comments, suggestions you are welcome.

If you want something with a little less stiction, try a heim joint in place of the red rubber/plastic/vinyl tube.

If you happen to notice that the initial push or pull when reversing your sharpening stroke has some stickiness prior to moving again, that would be stiction.

Below is the piece I am talking about replacing, and a heim joint is below that.

Thank You, I will check this soon, for the moment i use a small amount of mineral oil on the guide it does the trick pretty well.

I bet the early prototype Edge Pro and Lansky systems looked a lot like this. Nicely done.
Thanks a lot, but fear not, it is not a prototype :D it does it`s job very precisely, I would put your most valuable knife on it, without any afterthought.

Nicely done! I build a lot of jigs and fixtures from time to time. Sometimes they are meant to last for years, and sometimes just for the job I'm working on. Sometimes I get more of a kick out of building the fixture to do the work and I do the actual work

Not much beats a well-made fixture that gives the confidence of reliability for pennies over what over you pay for the big name pieces of equipment.

Good job!

Robert

Please reduce the size of the photos now or in future posts. It just takes too long to load.
I'll give it another try tomorrow.
Sharpening jigs for ever.

I followed your advice and significantly reduced the size of the pictures they should load faster now.

Bless you !
THANK YOU for taking all that time but they loaded quick like a bunny now.
Haven't looked yet just wanted to say thanks.

There you go Mate !
Wicked Edge eat your heart out. If W.E. was anywhere near that versatile and adaptable, especially for small thin knives I would have bought one. (I have an Edge Pro Apex and with a bit of fudging I at least get stunningly sharp edges).
I have been thinking of moding my Edge Pro so I can more easily put my DMT Aligner diamond stones on it for high vanadium blades. I just . . . hahahaha . . . double back tape them on now = PITA.

Nah . . . you are doing great ! Way to go !

Thank you very much, the first time I saw one of these it was precisely this one...
And i saw the whole world of possibilities this kind of rig could have. From there the cogitation begun.... Of course after doing some research I found all the commercial ones and all the DIY`s you could dream to have. But my concern was about knife retention on the jig. I wanted something that could hold from the smallest potato peeling knife to a full fledged firefighter axe.... BUT... this in reality are two VERY different kind of clamps needed to do that. And with tinkering with the two. I got the idea of overlapping them. The problem was solved. From there the rest was already existing, has already been made by the Roman empire so.... After putting a couple of guinea pigs on it... IT GIVES A FREAKING SCARY HEDGE !!! Lately did a couple of nice cooking knives. They had a rough life, and it was a piece of cake. Boning knife at 22°, slicing knife at 18° precise. And stropped at the same angle. Cutting paper like ain't no sh....... sorry i`m getting carried away, loll...

Father and grand fathers where avid knife collectors. Got my first folder at 5, first fixed blade at 7. And knives to practice sharpening on. :D
