Shrade hat pin with no Knife???

I recently purchased a handful of the pin in the attachment. I'm wondering if anyone knows why Schrade would make a pin with ammo and gun references and no knife or "Schrade" on it. The pin was supposedly handed out at the Ellenville, NY plant before it closed. In all the history I've been able to dig up there are no references to ammunition or firearm manufacturing only a mention of making knives for the military after a merger in 1941. Anyone have any input / answers?
