I got this pocket knife from a man that worked for Norfolk Southern Railways. From my research I found out it was made between 1986-1996, the only years Schrade produced this pattern. The box was first opened by me to take this picture. It still has the oil coating on it. I'm curious is to how much its worth?? because I was thinking about selling it to a collector and I don't want to get ripped off. help?

Value can be a very relative thing, depending on how many people are looking for the same thing at the same time. You probably won't find too many here who will give you a straight up value because of that. Your best bet is to check completed auctions on ebay.

Thanks for the comment. I just went ahead and listed it on ebay to let the buyer decide. I actually look on there and apparently most of them are worth more to a collector than a user like myself. I'd rather a collector have it than me abuse it.

Advertising it here on BladeForum might help, but spelling Schrade wrong might not help your Ebay auction. I've picked up a few bargains on Shrade knives from time to time. The 72OT is a bit uncommon. The advertising etch usually brings less $$$. Great job on the nice large photo here in the forum. Good luck selling. If I had to guess I'd say it will sell for $20 - $25 but Ebay is not very predictable.

Thanks for the info...I didn't even realize I misspelled it. I did on the auction too. Dang!! I figured the advertising might decrease the value but I think its worth more to someone who likes these knives alot than to me. I also didn't intend to advertise just wanted to know some about it but I guess I did anyway..opps..I'm pretty sure its against the rules of the forum like almost all forums. Sorry!!

I don't think the ice is too thin. :D Those folks at Norfolk Southern used Schrade quite a bit for awards. Too bad they didn't have an old locomotive in the logo.
