I am having a problem with the sharpmaker making a bur after sharpening the knife anyone know how to get the bur off using the sharpmaker? This happens after about the second sharpening the edge folds over and stops the sharpening. I've tried different things but nothing helps. Also different knives. Thanks for any replies. William

Hey...

Take a look at the Blade Sharpening FAQ by Joe Talmadge in the Knowledge Base/Knife FAQ's section of this site. Excellent info. Actually forming the burr is a good thing. It means you've reached the edge. Sharpen on the ohter side to move the burr back over. When you've formed a burr from both sides, then sharpen again on one side, then the other, using less pressure each time. Finally you'll want to take a last easy stroke or two to cut off the burr. I also like to strop by blade on a piece of leather or cardboard. (although not everyone recommends stropping a knife blade).

BTW, if this is vague, then read the FAQ. Much better written...
