Don't restaurants pay big money for those?

Not around here (not "big" money, anyway)... They're desirable, but really extremely plentiful here. If you have good timing you can fill a grocery bag in about an hour.

Hi forager -

I'll bet some are up here in central Illinois, but it has been in the mid 30's at night, and raining hard all day today.

If it stops raining, the'll be getting grey's here tomorrow.

I usually have a mess or two before mother's day.

Thanks for the pics - enjoy those morels!

best regards -

All I have are amanitas in my yard... ah making me think about fall and I WANT SUMMER..

Damn, I have the hardest time finding morels here.. though I live on the west side of the cascades.. I understand they are plentiful on the east side.. we have chanterels like nuts here though.. not as exotic, but great flavor nonetheless!

great score!

Fungus among us! Great pics forager; I love mushies. What do you plan to cook with those? Nothing better than a filet drizzled with mushroom gravy...mmmm....mushroom gravy

The meal that was created with theses beauties was:

Broiled salmon with a chili powder/dill crust
Fresh ramps sauteed in butter
morels flash fried in butter and topped on the salmon
nice garden salad

It was wonderful.....

Morels eh? You, sir, connected the dots. I have spent a lifetime picking them puppies but only knew them by their Ukrainian name. Try them in cream with butter dill garlic and onions. Baba's old Canadian Ukraine recipe, it goes best with discussion on that bear who's vegan supper nearly upgraded to a mushroom manwich. God bless the northern sticks.
