I was quite surprised to see the going prices for the SHSH's and was wondering if anyine could give me some insight as to why they are at the price points they are at?

The reason I ask is that I bought one new at the Indy 1500 with the drop leg kydex sheath and the wife is still PO'd at me for spending what I spent back then. I showed her a couple that were for sale a while ago and she said "you should sell it". I thought about it and told her that for what they are going for I could sell it and maybe buy 2 newer ones like maybe a NMFBM and a ASH!

You guessed it, she had other ideas so I decided it was better to keep what I have rather than discussing how the proceeds would be re-allocated.

I bought mine to use and have used it so it has not been a safe queen and even though it looks like the current value is much greater than what I bought it for, I have no intention of letting her retire.

Thanks in advance.

pony express and it might take a year or two...

In short, the SHSHs are as pricy as they are, because they haven't been made in a long time (and won't be made ever again, it would seem).

Like anything else that is old and rare (well, except for Skunk and Tony), they are worth what someone is willing to pay for them and that is $800 - $1200.

There are worthleess. :D
Like Ducci said, value is what someone is willing to pay.
I wouldn't be caught dead with "1" of them.

The useful life of your collection, used one at a time, has got to be at least 600 years plus!!! ;)

Agreed, you need more than one to have a "Collection"! The more the merrier!
