Good Morning guys, I was wondering how many were made in A-2 versus how many were made in INFI. And do you prefer one over the other for a user. I know INFI is an upgrade in steel technology but would you really notice that much of a difference for occasional type use. I just love the looks of the older SH's Busse's. How do they feel in the hand compared to the newer designed Busse's. Thanks D,

No one really knows the numbers, Jerry might not even know by now as they were written on CBL cans in the shop, now lost in the heap in the back affectionately known as Jerry's Magic Mountain.

You will never notice a difference in real world use and abuse.

A2 is going to cost you as its become quite the collectible in the last few years. I am fortunate to have gotten a few back before the big bust out.

The Straight Handles have a feel like no other Busse, very unique. If it weren't for the market forcing values up so high they would be the only Busse's I'd get. The new flashy stuff just isn't as attractive to me.

The bottom four knives are all A2, the third knife down is a mystery, might be A2 or INFI. INFI get the vote as it hasn't shown signs of staining on the exposed metal.

awesome collection leatherman, it is interesting that some of the older ones have smooth and slotted bolts.
i like the older busse knives as well, just maybe i will have one at some point...

Thank you! :)

Yea, its hard to tell in the photo, but the third knife down has slotted bolts and smooth handles. I've seen a few out there. My favorite of the collection by far.

Nice Collection Leatherman, I noticed the different variations in the blade styles and handles in your collection/photo's very nice I might add. Lucky you!
Thanks for the Imfo and photo's, :)

Mulder, I see you lurking down there!

They're still not for sale! :p

Edit: d762nato, I was writing when you posted, I feel very lucky to have gotten what I have, and deeply regret letting an equal number go back in the day. Two in particular. And yes, I think its the variations in the older models that give them "Soul" and make them much more interesting.

SHSHII's are the bomb.
Get one if you can.
The fatties have the best "in hand" feeling but my go to is "Precious".

Fatties on the left.

One of those three bead blasted ones on the top right may be one of my biggest regrets if its the same one. :(

I spent a lot of time stripping and cleaning on that one only to sell it off later.

Now are most of the shsh11's 7.5 inches or are some longer, and what are the different thickness's?

That bag Fatty of your's is in the hands of a HOG on the west coast that hasn't been around much lately.

All are 7.5 inches that I know of.
There are some variants (bottom knife in my pic) that are .200 thick.
Tube fastener knives with diagonal grooved micarta are .25
The rest are somewhere between .250 and .3125.
Lots of fatties in the .280 - .300 range.

d762nato,
It sounds like you will need to participate in my upcoming SHSHII passaround. I know you took my recent survey. It is now a locked thread BTW, so I guess I don't mind saying that those eligible to participate will be those folks who voted for the SHSHII. There will be some additional criteria as well, but my hope is that I can have a lot of responders try out the only one I have, which is A2. Stay tuned...

Well thank you Chris, The reason I'm asking these questions besides just loving the overall look and design, are I'm in the process of trading for one. So at this point I've been quite curious about them.
