Can you guys please post some information and pictures on these old school blades. Were they only released once? What's the difference between it and a boss jack? I appreciate any input.

Hi bullpin, I was just headed off to answer your PM on this. :)

SJ's (AKA SHSJ) come in many flavors and several thicknesses. The BOSS Jack's are mainly .22" thick, IIRC, but the one main difference is the handle. BJ's aren't quite as cut deeply in the tang & handle where the forefinger rests, and the handle slabs are a bit different in size length on the BJ and cover the ricasso a little more. Also, the grooves in the handle are reversed from the SJ on the LE's & CG versions. (SJ= /////, BJ= \\\\\) Many BJ's are also convex ground. BJ's were also offered without choils as an option, SJ's, I don't think so.

Thanks, guys . That 1/6 desert jack is beautiful. are these the latest infi recipe? Or older?

Older. I believe I've heard 1 of 12, but think there might be a few more. These were offered before I became acquainted with Busse. :)

I think it is slightly wider. I know where my DSF is, I'll try to hunt down one of my BJ's later and post what difference I find.

The Boss Jack is the re-release of the Satin Jack…. the 'Boss' designation stands for "Busse Old School Series"

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/616007-BOSS-HG55-Yowza!!!!!

It's comin' next boys!!!!. . .

Garth found a box of my old patterns in my original shop!!! A case of CBL along with 2 rounds of Minni Britt Winni, and the Busse Old School Series (BOSS) was born.

We took my old HG55 pattern and gave it a modern Busse Combat treatment and Boy Howdy it looks pretty darned amazing!!! . . . :D. . . This blade was a very popular custom model for me during the early 1980's.

1/4" thick. . . . 5.5" Long Blade. . . . Thumb Grooves. . . Wicked cool ! ! ! !

Stay tuned for pics within the week!!!!

Let's Drink!!!!

Is there an original post from Jerry for the satin jack debut? Good info guys !! Keep it coming. Anyone know an original offering price without looking it up?

Is the blade height on the Boss Jack the same as the DSF?

DSF looks like 1-3/8th" wide, the BJLE I measured looks about 1-1/4" wide. Only an eigth of an inch difference between the 2.

This was the Proto from Blade West. Too fat for my taste. IIRC, the OG Jacks came in 3/16 and 1/4" flavors. This one is skinny, of course.

I bought a SJ CG (coated version) in early 2002 for $227 (list price).

The SJ CG first came in 1/4" thick and a little later in 3/16".

Ah. Same thing happened with my first old school SJ.:(

I heard of a young bastid scoring one at the last Blade West show (2009??).... Skinny little thing wearing sexy black paper.... First one to the table, just over $200 with the 15% offered in the first hour of the show....

The good old days!!
