For me, it was when my two brothers got our quad stuck 30 KM in the bush down near a big river...it was so muddy that spring...So they got the quad so stuck they couldnt get it out of the mudhole and had to spend the night..lucky for them they found an old cabin and stayed in there...the next morning they walked out, with me walking in to meet them half way (hopefully)

We met up and walked out to my truck and made a plan to get the quad out of the bush, we romped a little toyota 4X4 into the remote location and attempted to pull the quad out...i was standing on a hill, watching this whole ordeal unfold when all of the sudden somthing didnt feel wquite right...the forrest was quiet..not birds chirping..no squirrels scurrying about the woods...as i looked further up the hill i spotted a MASSIVE grizzly bear, about a hundred yards from me..it had planted its feet and lowered its head once it saw that i had spotten him..bad news...i aimed my 450 marlin at him while alerting my brothers of his presence... I had to sit there and watch him watch us for 4 hours that day and my brothers pulled the quad out of the mud...despite us shooting warning shot over its head the big grizz just stood there and watched us. until finally walking away like we were no threat to him at all.

Had angels on our side that day. That would have been one hell of a shootout if he had come down that hill looking for an easy meal.

anyone else have some SHTF stories?

Had one bluff charge at close range on the Arolik River in W. Alaska. I was well into taking slack up on the trigger when I shouted and he turned into the woods. Normally I take a lot of precautions to ensure I don't get that close but this was an unusual situation.
