I have had my Shun Classic for about a year now. Its about due for a sharpening. I am a newbie when it comes to sharpening.. What is the best way to sharpen this knife? I have a sharpmaker. I was wondering if that would suffice.

Any info would be appreciated.

I know, some guys love the Sharpmaker but I've had one for years with all stones including the diamond sleeves.
I never could sharpen Jack S**t with the Sharpmaker and despise it ! :thumbdn:
All it's good for is grinding the metal of your knife blade away, jmo.
I've had excellent results with the Gatco Diamond stone system; it works great for me.
The Edge Pro would be my choice for a new system.
When in doubt, have a professional do it like suggested here by Alton. ;)
