So I have been trying to figure out a nice, compact fishing kit to no avail. I wanted something different than a tube or things other guys have devised for the task. Two days ago my Shure headphones died (after 2 years of hard use), excellent product. I realized the case would be perfect for a fishing kit as it has a built in "reel" and center storage.

Here it is next to my Storm so you have some perspective...couldn't find my tape measure.

Open so you can see the coiled 20lb line, I will probably overlay 50lb spider wire over that.

So far I have 6 #4 & #6 hooks folded into band aids, one leadsinker, and the Kastmaster that not once failed me all last season on the Animas River. I have TONS of room left over.

Not sure if or where you could buy these zippered clamshell cases online but I am cerain you could get that info from Shure.

Very ingenious salvage and adaptation of leftover gear. Nicely done!

No doubt, although I would not have been thinking compact survival/camping fishing gear without this lovely forum.

Good idea. I wonder how many people here know where your user ID came from. Tutti-frutti.

Lol, and they wonder why I started a giveaway thread in the RAT section based on the worst thing you have done and gotten away with...no takers :jerkit:

I did not notice where you are at first. I used to go to Four Corners each Labor Day weekend.

It is a great place man...the fishing and hunting here rules and they have more brew pubs per capita than anywhere else...although Carver Brewing Company is the only place other than SKA to drink at.

Some split shot sinkers, swivels, and a good know lure if it will fit.

If you ever decide to go the tube route, pick up one from Talfucher, he makes a sweet ready to go kit.

I have room for 8 sinkers easy. Just wasn't sure on a good number. Have a never failed me kastmaster in there as well. Still plenty of rOom.

Well, shit the bed! :D

I wish I would have heard the name "Otis Driftwood" years ago, I would have used that instead of my real name and saved myself a lot of trouble online.

I figure I can put water proofed strike anywhere matches across the center spot and tinder around the outside ring. Maybe some small capsules of fuel next to the matches and then a mini fire steel and razor on top. Full fire and fishing kit in a very pocket friendly case. Then I am going to vacuum seal the entire case for storage.

looks great can u fit in a small bobber or weights?

Yep...got a few sinkers in there now and once I get down to the local fly shop I am going to have some super tiny strike indicators to put in it. Quite an awesome little case i wish it was easier to get without buying $100 headphones.
