Siberian Skinner - No Tang Stamp

Hello,

New member here and first I want to start out with a thank you to all of the knowledge shared by the members of this wonderful site; over the years I have enjoyed finding the answers to many inquiries and have enjoyed learning from you all!

That said...I recently acquired a Siberian Skinner and was curious if anyone has a good guess or idea as to the manufacturer as there are no tang stamps and the only mark is on the blade reading "Siberian Skinner" in an interesting font. I used my magnified headset to closely study the tang and there doesn't appear to be any worn marks and the condition of the blade tells me it hasn't been ground or polished.

The quality appears to be top notch which leads me to believe it is German; it has brass pinned slab scales with stacked leather spacers, an aluminum pommel, an interesting steel hilt and a beautifully stained carbon steel blade. I was totally unprepared when I received this knife, it is HUGE! It's 12 7/8" inches overall with an 8" inch blade.

Anyhow, any help on identifying this knife would really be appreciated and I look forward to learning more from you all.

Thanks

Hard to tell. Need pictures.

As a registered user, you can post pictures by uploading them to a web hosting site. I currently use Imgur. Once uploaded, copy the web address of the picture, making sure that the address ends in jpg, png or some other picture file format. Then start a post and click the picture tool (next to the smiley face on the tool bar). A popup will appear. Paste the address into the popup and click OK.

In the meantime, you might see if any of the knives in this thread are similar to yours:

As I understand it, "Siberian skinner" was sort of a style used by German cutlery outfits. No real connection to Siberia. That is not to say that the outfit who made it had to be German.

I have owned several over the last years.
There’s a lot of Solingen Tang Stamps that aren’t actual manufacturers they often have the Importers name stamped.

You find Anton Wingen Jr, Linder etc may have contract made these - I cannot for the life of me remember the manufacturers of the ones I owned now - was a few years ago now.
