Here are some pics I took at SICAC :)
It was a nice show , with a LOT of nice makers and a bunch of visitors.

My buddy Jens ANSO and his wife, enjoying the calm before the storm (it was before the public opening). Jens had some mighty nice folders on his table!

Thanks Flavius! I have to make it to that show again some day... maybe next year?!

That first Bennica is stellar - do you remember the asking price for it?

Thanks Flava,

I was there too of course. It feels like something's coming back on the european market... Very good show, with lots of people. Some serious collectors too. I couldn't see Murray Carter. He was supposed to attend... empty table... Not a lot of american knifemakers. But I spoke with Josh Smith. He looked like he didn't regret being there.

i was there, i have seen it, and event touch flavius knives...
really nice ones, the long one the TREMENDEOUS...

flavius, don't be shy, you forget to see that the blade is your design...:D

Thanks Freddy :)
Yes, I draw the big one and Achim did a great job buiding it. Everything fits GREAT with no glue, and no solder.

Flava,

Thanks for the pics, due to illness in the family I wasn't able to attend but at least this way I get a small sample of how it would have been.

THANK YOU for the great pix!! It was almost being there.

Congrats on the great scores!! I LOVE those Anso knives.

I was as there Saturday and was very impressed. The show is not huge and almost has the feel of an "invitational" Flavius concentrated a lot on the folders but there were a very goodly number of makers showing a lot of superb fixed blades. There was LOT of damascus too. The Scandinavian smiths were well represented. There was one young French lad who made some BIG burly bush knives including a couple of pieces that would remind you a bit of Jason Knight's or Adam DesRosier's work. There were a few Yanks there. In addition to Hank Knickermeyer, Josh Smith and Scott Slobodian, Ed Schremp (sp?) was in attendance as was our very own Dirty Sanchez himself, Matt Diskin:D Cliff Parker was there showing off his mosaic folders including one of his Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote pieces. I got a kick out of that. Josh had a couple of crushed W pattern folders that he had squashed out on his new rolling mill that looked very good. I didn't get to stay as long as I wanted as I had to leave EARLY this morning, but I was impressed. The show is quite pricey both for those showing (about the same as the New York show) and for admission, whihc was 15 Euros for both days or about $21, but the Mutualite is a very nice facility surrounded by all of the thrills and chills of the Rive Gauche. If you can't have a good time there, you need to stay home permanently:D There was also a lot of "pre-sale" activity in the cafe across the street by folks who didn't have tables. If this show is indicative of how the others such as Thiers, Gembloux and the new Dutch show will be going, it bodes well for our European friends.

Thank you VERY much for that detailed show report. The time and effort is much appreciated. The Hogstrom pieces are fantastic!

Roger
