All,

1) Anyone here planning to go to the SICAC show in Paris?

2) Can someone point me to the wen site... :o

Thanks,

Joss

Joss,

I was planning on going but the problem is that the show is moved to a Friday and a Saturday (26 & 27 September) and I'm afraid that the good stuff is all gone on Saturday.

If I go I would really like to get together.

Marcel

I am going to try to make it by again this year on my annual invasion of Western Europe. They did not have a website last year that I ever found. The show was a very good last year. Lots of fancy stuff, as would be expected with the cost of the tables. The Mutualite is not a big venue, but a very nice one and the neighborhood is about the coolest place you could have a knife show. I still get a chuckle over the guys sitting out at the tables at the cafe around the corner with enough knives spread out that it would normally cause a national security scare in most European countries. Lunchtime is just as funny with all of the buyers of big fixed blades trudging off to lunch looking like extras out of Mad Max with all of that hardware slung on their hip. The downside is that accomodations can be pretty pricey even for some of the more pedestrian hotels. Good news is that there are a LOT of them and if you are already planning to be in Paris, you have to pay anyway:D The cost of dining was no worse than an pricier American big city, which is to say that it cost less than London, which most places do. You can also fend for yourself if you so choose as there is a neigborhood farmers market on Saturday up on Rue St. Germain.
Marcel...a lot of people are scratching their heads as to why they changed the days of the show. It doesn't effect me as I will be there on vacation, but apparently it does mess up a lot of local folk's plans. The show is essentially a 1 1/2 day show now instead of the 2 day show it was in the past.

I'll be there of course, but I guess you know that. There's no website yet. I'm not sure there will be any. The best place to get informations is the french forum (forum.neoczen.org).

I'll try to get some pics and post them after the show :)

A bigger line up than I expected. It's going to be fun to see Matt Diskin here in Paris!

I'll be at the show but I don't have any money... I just bought 3 Fogg's in less than a week. Ouch.

I'll be there and I hopefully contribute with a few pics.

Joss, where do you get those Foggs?? Where is your secret source??

Marcel

Joss,

I saw that you picked up a real nice Fogg on ebay. Great catch.

Jim Treacy

No secret source, but yes, just picked up a very ambitious damascus piece from eBay.

I can't go. Work. I would really like to go, lots of interesting knifemakers will be there.

But then again it gives me some time to save up for the knifeshow in Belgium!

Kind regards,

Jos
