sickening

I'm allowing this because it's been posted in another thread.
I've been busy and this is on my to do list.
I've talked to Auntie about it.
I guess i should get busy with a cease and desist email.

sorry I missed the other thread. I took this personally as Yvsa was one of the forumites I most respected since I first stumbled across HI back in 2000. Probably jumped the gun in posting, had to vent a little.

I'm not sure what it looks like, but I could think of a few words to describe it.

Disgusting, disrespectful, dishonorable...what more can I say? Oh yeah, this. I won't be supporting them with my money. Ever.
Peace.

I think it's thier version of the YCS. They did the same thing with some Tora khuks. The name is the same and they even mention the "Tora Military Range" in the description, which is what Simon calls the line of khuks. It's one thing to "borrow" features and designs, it seems to happen all the time in the knife business, but to cut and paste verbage from the original manufacturer's website is very poor form. One more reason not to buy from the khukuri houses, as I understand they are all connected, just using different cyberspace store fronts. Take care.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery(i guess)...All the HI regulars are upset over Yvsa's crossing and that doesnt help here

All i know is what ive experienced w/ HI...thats what matters..my purchases in the future are performance related only

Thats not a true statement of fact JDk, its an old wives tale spread by some people have a vested commercial intrest in what they say, so Id recomend dont believe evrything your told on the internet, there is serious competition between the three main kukri houses. Its Nepal after all!

In Nepal piracy & copying is the norm, Its very bad taste regarding Yvsa, but they wont even know who Yvsa is or that he has passed. They just copied stuff of a sales website.

Might be a good idea for people to email them & complain about the Cherokee reference though. Having met some of the people running some the firms , I could be wrong but they may well withdraw the Cherokee reference.

i hope they do.

Yvsa was a good friend of mine.

Thanks for the clarification Jonathan. I had heard they were all more or less the same shop and it was easy enough to believe looking at how alike they all seem. I don't really have a problem with copying the designs as just about any knife made today is a copy of something someone else made long before. I still have a problem with them copying item descriptions so closely and not even taking the time to remove the original company's name from the wording!. As you say it's very poor taste and just turns me off for that company. Thanks again for the clarification. That's information I've repeated a few times and won't make the mistake again. Take care.

IIRC, you are partially right, jdk1.
The KH family of houses is all run by relatives of the same family. The others are not related to them at all.
I'm not sure if any of them wholesale from KH, but it seems to me they carry much of the same khukuri right down to the markings and styles.
I could be wrong though as markings and styles don't mean a whole heckuva lot when you're pirating and copying stuff from other firms.
It's why H.I. chooses to make it's khukuri they way it does, market the way it does and why we so plainly mark them.

Thanks for sharing that karda. It amazes me sometimes just how wise UB was. Probably much wiser than he knew. I wonder if he was there for the khukuri, to assist the kamis by selling khuks, or the khukuri were there for him, as a mechanism for him share his wonderful outlook and understanding of what is truly important in life with thousands of folks he would never otherwise meet:) Thanks again.

Lord knows i wish i was as wise as Uncle sometimes......
Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate evryones efforts to report these and appreciate knowing.
Particularly troublesome plagiarism i may have to take action on someday, but i always try to keep Uncles words foremost in my mind.
