side to side blade play

Nah, there is nothing about a liner lock that makes it inherently more prone to side to side play. What knife are you having blade play issues with?
 
Hmm, I believe that model has ball bearing washers. I don't own one but Ive got a couple of bearing (frame lock) flippers that have great action with no side to side play. Hopefully someone with that knife will step in and offer some first hand experience. Could be something as simple as a slight pivot adjustment. Hope so. :)
 
Dice isn't a liner-lock. And definitely shouldn't be ANY play in any direction. Did you purchase it new?
 
Have you tried tightening the pivot? Sometimes there's only a tiny fraction between loose and perfectly adjusted.
 
Try tightening the pivot and other screws. If that does not work, send it in.
