Hi Bladeforums!

Here is the latest project. I have been chipping away at this one for a while. It was forged out of 1" round 5160 with a sideways tapered tang. The slabs are Bocote and are slightly oversized and radiused to meet the tang and are attached with 2 hidden Micarta pins and one visible pin (just 'cause I can).

This will be on display at the upcoming NCCA in Mystic, CT on May 1st and 2nd. It should be a busy, exciting show. Please stop by and say hello!

Thanks for looking,

Nick

Very unusual. I like it a lot. Did you have any difficulty fitting the two piece handle?

Yes.

It would of been easier if the bolster termination angle was 90 degrees. It meant test fitting was really tricky with the hidden pins. Once it was snapped together it was nearly impossible to pull apart. Great for strength, bad for test fitting. Other than that it is like doing a handle for any other integral.

Very nice job. Just for your inspiration, here's another one with this kind of horizontal integral tang (Tharcis Holtzer) :
