I love carrying a 3 1/2" or short of 4" pocket knife.. However they keep falling sideways in my RF pocket. I tried using a sheath but honestly I simply hate it, sort of takes usability away from the tool. The back pocket is a no no because they kept falling off when I got out of my car. Running out of ideas here.

How do YOU carry this size knives in your pockets?

I'm not a big fan of sheafs/sleeves myself, but most of my khakis have a smaller slot/sleeve sewed into the bottom of the right pocket which works perfectly to keep my knife vertical. I'm no seamstress, but think it would be relatively simple to sew something similar yourself.

Back in the old days, the 3 1/2 inchers would tuck into the watch pocket on my Wranglers.... I don't know anymore since I either neck carry or drop the knife into the bib pocket of my overalls.....

from short lanyard made to a belt/belt loop or OA buttonhole, clipped to a bail and into the front right pants pocket.

gotta have a bail.

I have no problem carrying a knife of that size. I just keep it next to my wallet.

If it gets sideways, I just reach into my pocket and fix it. Never really gave it too much thought, really.

Well I live in NYC, and if I do that I'll get cited for putting my hand in my own pocket too often.

:D

Yes hello

LOL! Good one!

Sometimes I carry mine in the watch pocket of jeans, otherwise I just keep them in the pocket and let them lay however they want. In jeans it doesn't bother me. If I'm wearing slacks, I will usually go with a small knife like a Sway Back Jack or Peanut.

I usually have a bunch of stuff in all my pockets and if something gets turned the wrong way, I just twist it from the outside.

I wear jeans.
When I have to dress up, I wear black jeans-cut industrial pants.

I don't dress that way to facilitate knife carry. I just dress that way and it turns out that carrying a pocket knife just isn't a problem.

I find that larger knives stay upright better (4" and above). Smaller knives, I hold in place by sliding them in next to my phone, my zippo, or my pack of smokes (wallet never goes in my front pocket, always in the back).
In the back pocket, I put the knife upright near the outer seam, with a bandana next to it, which holds it in place rather well.

From 3 1/4" to 3 7/8" fits in the watchpocket of my Levi's. The 3 7/8" knives don't bury completely, but I've never found that to be a problem (even with jacks or slim trappers). Four inch and above are carried in a belt sheath or backkpocket alongside my wallet. Some use a handkerchief, for front pocket carry, to keep the knife in place.

There have been several threads on carry methods in past. A search would be useful....300

The vertical stitch in the pocket liner is a very easy and simple fix. A few minutes with a needle and thread is all it takes. This keeps change and misc items from scuffing it up also.

In my suitpants there is a small label that a small pocket knife fits into well and stays in place. If you don't want to sew a seam in your pocket to make a pouch perhaps you could sew in a small piece of material to one layer of the pocket that would act as a "knife loop".
