the siegle cleanly slices paper after chopping some limbs & the tree. i believe siegle has got the heattreat down.

Great shots and nice knives. Please don't take this the wrong way, but it's freezing rain out right now and the pics of you in just a long sleeve T shirt kinda make me want to punch you!!!! ;)

Thanks for sharing. :)

That river looks like a great place to chunk the kayak in! :) & I want a Kuk by Bill!! Great photos man!

72??? I wish I look half in shape as you look when I reach 60  Great pics - thanks for sharing my friend

Dennis, you look pretty good for 72 yrs.
Glad we finally get to see you and thanks
for the pictures, always appreciated.

Thanks for the images.

You are looking good bro! I hope my refusal to grow up works as well as whatever you are doing to stay young!

Great pics D. That Siegle is pure badness. I would LOVE to get my paws on one. GEC makes a nice folder too. Thanks for the pics!

You look great Dennis:thumbup::thumbup:

I have patinets 50 years younger than you---that you would put to shame..

and Yes--Siegle has Heat Treatment of 5160 DOWN TO AN ART!!!:D

Thanks for posting ...

As far as Texas weather--

It will be 61 Here today:thumbup:
Monday 65:thumbup::thumbup:
Tuesday 21--with a 20% chance of snow:barf:

Great pics Dennis,

What are the tiny GECs next to that huge Siegle?

It has taken a long while for me to understand and comprehend that you are actually chopping down ten inch diameter trees with a knife.

The thought of using a knife instead of a an Axe or Chainsaw for such a large job had never occurred to me.

It still looks like a lot of work for a strong man. God Bless You.

Great stuff Dennis I think your right about Siegle's heat treat !

By the way, what ever ya doin keep doin it cos ya looking good buddy !;)

you guys are real kind. i am real lucky with the genes since i can be so active & feel this good. reader the 2 folders are great eastern pioneer in red spiral buffalo & the muskrat furtaker yellow rose , both in my fav for the bush---1095. great eastern has a good heattreat on their carbon steel & although my folders for the city work are m390, d2 & zdp, i really do'nt trust any alphabet alloys as much as carbon in the boonies. dennis

That is an awesome blade man :thumbup:
I want one of those so bad. How much did that run you?

Nice big chopper and 2 cute little pals

BTW, what kind of tree is that you chopped down? very interesting bark. seen a few around here, but I don't know for SURE what they are.

Thanks so much, Pat

as to knife costs i refer one to siegle himself. i did get an excellent favor from bill on this piece but members should realize these custom cutters cost hundreds of dollars but are worth every cent. i'm not a wealthy man but i have few expenses outside of knife purchases. i'm ashamed to say that as much time as i spend in the bush i have marginal knowledge of plants & trees. my guess is it may be a cedar elm, the only plants i can really identify are poison oak & ivy.--dennis

Wow, what a choppa.
Dennis, you are kicking butt- enjoying your pics and have always enjoyed reading your posts, thank you.

I would just like to ask how much influence you had on the design and make up of your gorgeous blade by Mr Siegle.

Dennis you are an inspiration- keep it up.

Cheers,
Guy

actually i did'nt order this kukri, was talking to bill & he said since i wanted a bigger chopper that the 9.75 in. blade he would sell me his personal kukri.the 1st chopper i got was in the knifemakers for sale section.it cut so well i wanted a bigger monster & after a few sessions with the kukri, i'm not sure anything else would be as much fun. dr. william martin got me interested in siegles & showed me lots of his work. bill siegle has made many dozens of different designs ,really amazing variety. it's a good idea to wear eye protection & use a lanyard. these big knives require the upmost concentration since glancing blows can severely hurt you. all that aside it's great how deep they chop.--dennis

Here is a SLIDESHOW of some of the knives Bill Siegle made(and I've tested over 80 I'll wager)

Do NOT buy his knives--they are ADDICTIVE!!!!!!!

You have been warned

I told Dennis--but Alas--he got one---and now, he too--is addicted:D
