I’ve been contemplating making myself a knife along the lines of the old Schrade Deer Slayer. I finally got the concept on steel! I made my version from .200in 5160 with black canvas Micarta scales. I’m looking forward to putting it to use camping soon. It’s 10 5/8in overall with a 5 7/8in blade tip to scales. I gave it a cold blued finish. The blade is flat ground with a nice taper to it. Here are pics showing my version and an original Schrade.
