I have over the past year owned 3 Siegle knives , a double edged dagger , a tanto , and now a SWEET 8 inch bowie . I must say that Bill's work is excellent.

The newest knife has a 8 inch blade with what I would call a gentlemans Bagwell bowie clip . One peice wood handle , 3/4 super rat tail tang , stainless steel gaurd , and nice kydex sheath. I just got through making a Bagwellian style leather sheath for it . It takes a great edge , and for the size , it carries IWB easier than many smaller knives . I just wish I could post a pic so you guys could turn green with envy .

If anyone wants a great bowie and loves the Bagwell style , Bill Siegle is the man for you .

Anyone else have some of Bill's fine work ? Speak up and be heard ..

I've got two of Bill's pieces. He's as gifted as much as he is a pleasure to deal with. Below is my link to pic of a fixed-bladed version of a Benchmade "707" he made for me; a cross size-wize between a 705 and 710. It's got a carbon steel, flat-ground blade with pinned G10 scales. He included a THICK concealex sheath with Tec-Lok clip.

I've got another BIG-HONKIN' camp/bush clearin' knife that I'd LOVE to carry with me in the nether-regions of Richmond, other than it might draw a little attention...

Professor.

I have a cord-wrapped fighter with a sharpened false edge. It is light and incredibly sharp. I also have a short sword made by Bill with incredible grind lines. What a great toy! The price was right too on both pieces. Bill also is an outstanding sheath maker. His kydex sheaths hold the knife securely without being excessively tight. Bill is a neat guy to work with. I highly recommend him.

I just got a Knax from Bill a couple of weeks ago. His turnaround time is very short and he a pleasure to do business with. Put your orders in now while the getting is good.

I have one of Bill's one-of-a-kind "Utility/Survival/Camp/Fighter" knives. It has the style of a Busse ("built-in" finger guard, curved handle), with a very wide 7 inch "Bowie blade", and is one very stout knife!. I received this (sterile) Siegle knife in a fairly recent "face-to-face" trade with Bill. He is a pleasure to talk with!.:).

I've purchased two from Bill, both 6" blades out of 1/4" 5160 steel, triple drawn with nice temper lines. One is a drop point/recurve fighter style. The other is a spearpoint--a virtual chef's knife on steroids, and a helluva camp knife. Very smooth, comfortably sculpted G10 slabs. Stout knives, good steel, ergonomic handles, good-fit kydex. Price is right, and Bill is friendly and easy to deal with. He often has interesting pieces available on the "For Sale by Maker" forum here. Demand can't help but increase for his stuff at current prices.

Good thread--thanks.

That is an interesting piece. I would appreciate your perspective after you have used it for awhile.

Cliff,

The Knax is your kind of knife. The 7" blade length and well fitted kydex sheath makes this very easy package to carry for a large chopper. It does not get in the way as much as the Estwing hatchet that it replaces.

It is a massive knife made from 5/16" thick 01 steel and has a maximum blade width in excess of 3". The balance is about 1" in front of the handle which gives it a decidedly blade heavy feel. I have not had the opportunity to test it, but it feels like it generates 5 or 6 times the momentum of a Cold Steel Trail Master.

Fortunately, the handle is well designed to help manage this momentum. The handle width increases from 1" at the front to a full 1.25" at the back by the lanyard hole, and the grooved micarta handle provides plenty of purchase.

Yet, despite all of its' massiveness it can cut. I was surpised by the edge geometry. In a sense the mass has been added to the spine of the knife by increasing the blade width, while the edge retains the benefit of a full inch of primary convex ground bevel.

While this isn't an all round general purpose knife, I am sure it can do everything my hatchet could do, and still be pressed into service with a good working edge. It is an interesting and useful knife & tool for the outdoors.

I have a large Siegle custom Bowie and a custom combat knife from him on the way. Mr Siegles work is Excellent. His grinds are absolutely flawless. Hes a great guy to deal with, very professional and courteous.Highly recommended!

I also have a couple of Bill Siegle knives, and they are first rate.
I bought one from Nakano2 and trade Bill for one directly. Needless to say, I came out way ahead on both deals :)

I have a 5" survival/utility that I got in a trade from someone here on the forums. The knife is very tough and stout, 5/16" thick. I don't think I could break it. I also just won an ebay auction for a Bill Siegle Machete Knife. 1/4" thick, almost 2 1/2" at the widest point, and an 11 7/8" blade. Can't wait to try it out. Hope to get more Siegle knives in the future.

My ex-gfriend has a japanese wrapped drop point by Bill, that she absolutely adores.

My brother owns two cord-wrapped utilities that I had made as prototypes, he is really quite happy with them. I loved them, I parted with them, because I had designed them incorrectly, which will be corrected in the next version.

And I just recently took posession of a wilderness blade, designed by me, that Bill did an absolutely wonderful job.

His work is really good.

I have owned several of Bills pieces, including some of the first ones he offered here on BFC. Several of these pieces that went to friends and coworkers are quite happy with their performance. I still have one that has a cord wrap handle with his standard differentally heat treated 5160. This large spear point utility fighter remains a favorite in one of my shops. Great user and can serve as an expedient prybar. With its .25" stock blade, I was able to lever several engine blocks without any problems!

BTW, Bill is a great fella and very easy to do business with.

Have I really been making this many knives? WOW! Thanks for all the kind words guys. I'd also like to add that it's been a pleasure dealing with all of you too. This thread makes me feel like I'm doing something right. I try to remain humble but boy this makes it hard:)

Bill,

That "Knax" knife you made, (the one shown in the above picture), is excellent! I sure wish you'd had THAT one (or the Bagwell-styled fighter that you make, also pictured somewhere here at BladeForums) with you in your bag when we made that trade at the NWKC Tacoma Knife-Show a few weeks ago...(I'd have even tossed-in a "like-new" Cold Steel Recon Tanto in the deal...).

However, I DO like the knife (one that you made) that you did trade to me for those gun books and CS folder.:).

Carry-on, my friend.:).

Just got a clip point necker from Bill. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice:D
Not to mention it came half way across the country in two days! That's service.

I have 4 Siegles,3 karambits and one camper in 5/16" stock,Bill is one of the very best. The man`s feedback speaks for itself,no need to add anything:D .

I have two of Bill's cord wrapped tanto's, one in 5160 and another in S30V. The latter is my wading belt fishing knife. It takes a beating and keeps on ticking. :) I have one of his Hood choppers, a G-10 handled tanto, and one of his geometric camp knives. All are excellent, tough, sharp, and wonderful to use. I have also used some of his altered Busses and they worked quite well too. Bill's a great guy and good knifesmith.

A thread like this needs some pics! :)

A very cool looking monster from Siegle! (Not mine...)
