Oh. My. God.

This thing is enormous. I must confess I was not prepared for the sheer size of this knife. My other folders look puny, indeed. From just a casual inspection, the fit and finish look fine and the action is fairly smooth. I am pleased.

The SIFU is the finest tactical folding knife-period. The action on mine is smooth and the fit and finish is excellent (the edge bevel at the tip was so-so, but I sharpened the SIFU to my specs anyway). And the price can't be beat! So far, I have very little fear of the knife closing accidentally. In fact, it is one of the few knives that has no play in my test for play. This involves wrapping the blade in a thick towel and while holding the handle wrench the blade in very direction with alot of force. Try that with most liner locks and it will close on you. The SIFU is a no nonsense figher. My only complant is the stonewash finish resembles a tin roof, but I can live with it! This knife rules!

I currently own three REKAT knives:a Pocket Hobbit, a Carnivour, and a SIFU. They are not as nicely finished as most Spyderco's or Benchmades, however they are all built like a Mack Truck. If I had to depend on a folder (I prefer fixed blades) to protect my personal safety, I would choose a REKAT SIFU. No one has made a more rugged or reliable folder yet at any price. After you thin the edges down a bit, they cut as good as any ATS-34 bladed production folder out there.

Yep. This is, currently, THE fighting folder. Awesome piece.

When I got mine, the size wasn't a shock. I was used to the Cold Steel Vaquero Grande and if you can't afford a Sifu, that or the Gunsite Tanto aren't too shabby.

But they're no Sifu, even if the CSVG is bigger.

I can't wait to see what Camillus is coming up with. It hardly matters though; their lock is a new, unknown type where the rolling lock is a proven concept. It'll take a lot of testing and eval before I'd switch carry to anything else.

The only time I still carry the CSVG is if I'm going to court and need to hide it in a bush outside. If it turns up gone I wouldn't be in the same state of shock as losing Sifu #1

.

Sidenote: eventually I'm going to get a production Sifu and turn SN1 over to Frank Recupero(sp?) for some "custom touches". It would then be reserved for "dress occations".

Meanwhile it's daily carry, as was intended.

Hmm. Sifu and "dress occasions." I'm having a bit of trouble with this concept...
