I have a Sig P220 that I'm sending in for a few custom shop mods, and thought I would have the gun refinished while it is there. It is now blued or parked, and the choices are Nitron black or Satin Nickel. Help me decide.

Hi RattlerXX-

Which shop is doing the modification work and to whom would they potentially send it for refinishing...or is that also one of your choices? That will absolutely help guide our answers.

With the choices given, I would go with the nickle finish. Much more durable than the Nitron (yes, I have used both) Just make sure you don't leave any aggresive cleaners on the finish. Just my .02 pesos.

Is it a CCW piece? I'm partial to blued, especially Colt's carbonia blued like on their WW1 repros. Not a good finish for a carry gun though.
Now how about a pic of this pistol? (or at least when you get it back)

Nickel Silver, though I'd prefer the new ST model, got a thing for stainless pistols.

Carbon steel is somewhat more durable. That said, I voted for nickel. All my guns are nickel, or stainless, except my Sig 226, and when the Tenifer finish goes south, I'm looking for a stainless slide if I can get one. Clear anodizing the frame is overkill, IMHO. :D

Thanks guys! Satin Nickel it is. I am about to fill out the paperwork and send it in to SIG. I'll post pics before and after.

Got her back yesterday. What do you guys think?
