Sigarms Pterodactyl ?????

I got this one in a trade, and have not used it, but have fondled it enough to give an opinion.

The G10 slabs are THICK! I was very surprised, it has a very strong feel to it, and IMO is very ergonomic and comfortable.

The recurve would be a pain to sharpen I think, but the steel is a nice European made one that will sold a decent edge.

The lock is very thin, and was concerning when I first saw it, but it locks up well, and has little to no play at all. After handling it, I am not concerned.

You can find em on some auction sites for around $60. Haven't heard much about it here on BF though

Hope that helped somewhat

Made by Fox Cutlery in Italy. Good stuff. I have 2 'dactyls and very happy with them.

I've read many good things about them. Everyone seems to like the handles. I just wish the blade shape was more traditional (clip/spear).

I have their tactical folder with the scales that are modeled after the P226 grips with a razor sharp Seki-made 1/2 coated tanto blade. Very well made and tight. I too was somewhat concerned about the thin lock, but it also has never been an issue for me.

I love this knife!! It made me a huge fan of N690 steel and now I seek other knives that use it (Spyderco Volpe and the Retribution by Ontario come to mind--anyone with these knives please feel free to tell me what you think of them).

Anyway, SIG is an outstanding company and their firearms are top-notch and in my opinion so are their knives. This is probably one of the sharpest blades I've ever received right out the box from a manufacturer. It is very sharp. Also, I will say that SIG has perfected checkering on G10. The handle is so grippy it almost feels like sandpaper! Other companies should take note on this.

I've always thought of this knife as kind of a little secret becuase it appears that not many people own it or have even heard about it and to me that makes it even more unique. But rest assured, all of my friends and co-workers that have seen it and handled it have been thoroughly impressed.

The Pterodactyl is a strong, handsome knife and you will not be dissapointed. I liked it so much I bought another one and for me it is very very rare I buy two of the same knives. Here's a picture of it on top of my P226R. Enjoy!

I've also posted another picture of it in another thread here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=661725

Personally I like their guns a lot more than their knives. I cant think of a better .45 than the P220.
