So I figured out that for me the easiest way to maintain an edge free hand is with it being convex. So I posted on here who could do a good job convexing some of my knives prior to deployment. Simon or "sigguy" said he could do it so I sent him my CRK umnumzaan scrapyard ss4 scrapyard yard keeper grayman GP busse game warden and a fallkniven s1 to get some dings removed. So I was a little nervous sending some of my nicer ones off but I really didn't have time to experiment. So I just chanced. I wish I had sent all my knives to him he did an amazing job absolutely great. I was woried that to much metal would be taken off the zaan it's perfect. These are some of the sharpest knives I've ever handled and I've handled my share. His prices are ridiculously cheap and he'll do your first sharpening for free just pay shipping. Like I said he did a great job and I am very pleased. Send him a knife you won't be dissapointed.the pictures turned out bad but I figured I'd post them anyway :D thanks Simon

Glad to hear you are happy!

I've got a box going out to him in the mail tomorrow. It'll be nice to get my Razel back all nice and sharp again!

Simon's a great guy and provides a great service to us here!

I've got one blade on the way to Simon. now I wish I'd sent some more.

so that first free sharpening mean touching up the edge from the factory, or actually convexing it?

cus i have a battle mistress that I would like convexed.

jeepin,
first free sharpening usually applies to a convex edge bevel, but if you'd like for a full convex i could give you a reduced rate if its the first. send me an email if you are interested.

the reason for the cost of a full convex vs bevel sharpening is time and belt wear...both go up when it comes to a full convex.
