Sigh, One of those Days

Guys, ever have a day like this?

Thanks to Jonesy for the handpiece for my electro-etcher. It works great! And that's where the problem first started.

I had some knives already completed, waiting for my electro-etcher to be completed. I used fingernail polish for a resist. Well the etch came out great! So did then thin spots in the polish....So a nice mirror polished skinner is ruined. Well I'll give it to a buddy that really wanted it.

Then while I was final grinding on a camp knife my dog came up and licked my leg. Well needless to say, I jumped, then had to duck the flying blade. Grind lines everywhere. I wound up hiding most of them, but some can't be hidden. I just slapped some kingwood scales on. Oh well, I needed a knife of my own.

Hope your day is better than mine. I'm going to pop a couple of tops.

Least you got a dog!

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

My dog licked my leg once while I was doing something critical. She's now on the mantle "sitting up" with a clock in her belly!!

Just make a decorative pattern around your name and re etch it whos to know you didnt want it that way..HE-HE......Knife makers can fix anything! As for the blade that went around the shop in 30 seconds---Just reprofile the blade to make a narrower knife then thin the sides down some and regrind the sides and you have a new knife no bad marks....Did I here somebody say "fillet knife"..HE-HE...Knifemakers,They can fix anything......Waut a second where the third strike of well kick the dog in the butt and go pop the top on a couple and try again tommorrow.......I have these kinds of days all the time and I used to have a bunch of blades around the shop to get fixed, some days you have an idea for a knife and one of those fixer blades jumps up and says you can make that blade from me with no problem, this saves on wasting steel and feeling like you made a sh!!y knife.....Have a good night and dont worry we all have those days.....Bruce
