While most say there's no too many knives, I've realized that I do have way too many knives, considering the facts how small place I am living and that I most likely move in Down under sometimes, when I marry my Australian GF... And moving another side of globe is painful process as you have to give up alot stuff (in my case 800 + Legal DVD's, 300+ books and several knives). And I've heard horro stories of Austrlian knife law's I should probably prepeare to give up most locked knives as EDC and carry small, non theatning and non-locking knife...

I really, really hate idea that I have to give up so many good knives but some sacrifices have to be made... but I won't give up my spydies nor busse.

I'd be more than happy to hang on to them for you while you're down under.

Give up my knives or ditch the GF.....hmmmmm....give up my knives or ditch the GF.....hmmmmmmm.

Send them to me and I shall hold them, use them, and take real good care of them until you return or you both come back here. :D

If you like guns and hunting you'll find that Australia is not an easy place for a non-citizen to own them nor can you own very many, but it is doable. I'd go along with the concept of getting her to come to you, unless she owns a VERY big station.

Well, I am not that big fan of guns and hunting generally. I enjoy more hiking, survaval things and archery. Perhaps some .22 race shooting or skeet at most as firearms.

But one major reason for me to moveout are ideological things and since this is no polictical arena and its off topics I just say: I like freedom of think and not one correct truth policy... Too much... CCCP stuff going on.

I adapt almost any situation and my english is quite good, understood, speaken and writing. Almost better than my Finnish.

Rev Devil, more likely marry in Australia... And move into New Hampshire due new Knife law in New hampshire :D... After getting my papers out from my University.

Bah, just move to the US. You'll love it here, cheap knives, cheap shipping, women, etc. :)

General life quality is probably quite ok in Australia. I wonder how strict knife laws are when walking around in nature? It may also be different if you simply have, say, a scandi fixed blade in your day trip backpack instead of visibly at your belt.
To put things in perspective: over here in Belgium we're not supposed to carry ANY knife "without good reason"... but if you look decent enough and don't act like a fool then chances are close to zero that you'll be searched.

I carry a knife every day here in Australia, the laws sure have gotten harsh, I would not carry anything that flicks open or was geared towards fighting, you do need a good reason for carrying a knife here but I think unless you are causing a disturbance or drawing attention to yourself I can't see any issues arising.

Australia is a great place to live, where in Australia is your GF from?
