We have been issueing the Glock M23 for some time now, I guess mine is about 10 years old.. Absolutely reliable. However, during our semi-annual qualification at the range today, I drew and found my front sight missing.

We use the Trijicon night sights, and the armorer had recently replaced them all.
Another guy lost his, and two more were found to be loose.

Our armorer (with something like 20 years experience) says it's the installation tool they sent him with the last batch of sights; just doesn't apply enough pressure.

At least the front sight never fell off my old S&W....:D

Hey ...

This isn't the first time I've heard of this happening...

Not sure if it's common or not,, but I've heard it a couple of times at least..

Eric...

It used to be common with replacement sights but I haven't heard of it happening in quite a while.

I just installed TruGlow TFO night sights on my Glock 22, the front sight screws in place and I put some medium strength loctite on it. Not likely to fall out...

Do the Trijicons really just press in? Seems like a bad idea, considering that they probably weigh just a bit more than the plastic thing they put there normally.

Good question from Terry. Did you qualify?

I would be seriously worried if my on-duty pistol was prone to breaking and being unuseable as a result.

I think it is time to can the armorer and get a gunsmith. Armorers are okay with swords, shields, helmets, chest plates, etc. but leave the gun stuff to the gunsmith, heh heh! It is scary that this happened.

Man...when I saw this thread, I thought that you'd had a sudden onset of blindness! Thank goodness that it was only an amorphous title. ;)

Anyway...I've always thought that the Trijicon night sights were a good idea. However, after hearing that your police force armorer is having trouble installing them, well, it is making me believe that installing tritium sights on my own would/could probably be a bad idea....

I haven't installed any in a while, but in my experience, the Trijicon front sights for Glocks have always screwed into a little nut. They hold mich better than the staked in factory sight, expecially with a drop of Loctite.
