SO..... tax and money problems in general have put me in a position to sell off some of (by some I mean essentially all) my stuff... one of the things to go was my canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens - one of the best canon lenses ever made. I also sold my canon 50mm f/2.5 macro.
I replaced it with the frugal sigma 70-300mm apo dg macro lens, thinking "well, I rarely used the 70-200 range (only for a wedding really (where it did FANTASTIC)), and I'll be getting the macro capability, even though it doesnt bridge the gap between 1:1.29 and 1:1 where my 65mm canon super macro starts. and its cheap...."
Thing is - craaaazy washout from back lighting. I'll see if I can get a picture that really highlights it and post it. Given that I'm referencing its ability to some of the highest end lense on the market, the difference is beyond just sharpness, its a huge immediately noticable gap in ability. When I take a picture of a blanket when its backlit, its like I turned the contrast down 20%, and raised the "brightness" level up 40%.
anyone else have this lens and have this problem?
