I just noticed a few days ago that I have been a member here on BFC for over 10 years.

To those that have been here for that long:

1) what brought you here?

2) what keeps you here?

Thanks in advance for the participation.

Member since 10/18/2001.

1) what brought you here?

I came here because I discovered that there was a Busse forum here. Bought my first Busse in 1994.

2) what keeps you here?

Because this is where the Busse family hangs out. Also, I grew up in a knive-friendly culture, was given my first real knife at age four and have not been without one for the 62 years since then. I come from a place and time where a male who did not carry a knife was viewed as probably having other character defects as well.

I first joined to ask questions about some knives in my collection. Here is my earliest post according to the forum search:

Notice the first person to answer was Esav Benyamin.

Why do I stay? I still have lots of questions. :)

I think I came aboard in the first few weeks, moved over from KF and rec.knives before that. Still into knives, still on BF, still love the great folks posting here.

April of 2002 for me... Didn't even realize. I can't recall what originally drew me here...Might have been looking for information on a particular model.
Stayed mostly for the PracTac, Gadgets, and Community forums.

I got here about the same time as St James, re-registered at some point so my date is off by a couple of years.

I also came over from KF in Oct. 1998. Wow- time flies. I am here for the camaraderie and knowledge.

Came to moderate the Camillus Forum.
Still learning after all these years! :D

I started out on the Benchmade Forum and discovered BFC though those guys.

What keeps me here are the industry folks and knifemakers who share their trade secrets for the betterment of this community. It's also fun to hear the "legends-in-their-own-minds" bellow at times. It's funny how folks have come and gone, how the goodfellas weather the storms, and how the a-holes are still a-holes. Not sure where I fit in this mix. :)

A toast to all us old-timers...

Prof.

I joined on 05-21-2000; almost 13 years ago.

Seems unreal; I had basically just started college then.

I was researching folders, and found BF through KF.

I can say with 100% certainty that I never would have started making knives if I had not found BF.

I showed up after searching knives trying to see what was a good deal on ebay, back in the day. The info was overwhelming, and I soaked it up like a sponge. I stay for the neat micro-communities within Bladeforums, and just because I'll never know everything, and want to learn something every day. Plus, the entertainment value in Community as well as the other areas is priceless.

I don't have very many knife friends outside of this place, so who else is going to listen to me?:D

I started on the Benchmade forum, and found my way over here 12 years ago.

I don't collect as much as I used to, but I enjoy the discussions, the people, and all of the wierdness that goes on around here.

Plus, I'll never own a junker knife again!!

Here is to anther 12 years!!

Researching khukuri's in the Himilayan Imports forum brought me here. I don't post much. I spend most of my time reading. I stay here because it's one of the best forums on the internet. It's well moderated with a great community. I've been here so long it feels like home.
