I know, I know. A run of machetes just finished shipping out, like, last week or something. But I'm still ready to sign up for one. Just ONE, then I swear I'll cut myself off. Or maybe not. We shall see!

If this thread counts, Andy, then here's what I would like:

18" in black

Andy, let me know what else you need and if you're sick and tired of machetes then I'll hold off until I see another sign up list from you.

How about a sign up list for all the tantalizing knives we never get to buy because Andy stopped taking orders? :D
There's plenty of machete action out there to be had if you look hard enough, try finding a convex thick handled cocobolo over osage ladyfinger for sale :p
The most used AND loved knife I've ever had the pleasure of owning-

Guys, let me lay out two specific instances of my own abject failures with respect to Fiddleback Forge.

A. Taking orders. Guys, I suck at taking orders, it is bad business for Fiddleback Forge, and it literally sucks the fun out of my days. I detailed the 5 reasons why I stopped and will not be taking them in the future before, here is the list again.

5 Reasons I stopped taking orders.
1. I am not good at it. Seriously, I loose customers taking orders.
2. I have twice or more the overhead (time) in an ordered knife than one I make on a whim.
3. An ordered knife is delivered at next year's skill level and this year's price.
4. Accepting an order quenches a consumer's demand immediately.
5. It takes longer to collect $ on an ordered knife than one I simply make and sell at BF

B. The machete list didn't work out either. I am planning to continue making the machetes in batches, and selling them here and on my forum. But I won't be making any lists.

Thats a sweet looking Woodsman dude. Sucks. I cut three Ladyfingers in the last batch we cut, but they're thin 3/32" and will be Scandi'd.

Hey Guys,

I'm new to posting around here but to tell the truth I've read every single Fiddleback thread, literally. I've owned several bushcraft knives over the past few years and I got to say I've been "bitten" by Andy's work. I respect his decision to craft his knives and sell them in this forum. It not only keeps him interested in his work, which benefits all of us, but keeps me and everyone else involved in this excellent forum. So far I've only been able to score what I call a Fiddle"Bark" Recluse (which is awesome by the way) but I'm watching all the time to see what Andy makes available. His work just keeps getting better and he's become my sole knife maker. I don't even bother looking around anymore as my Fiddleback wish list grows every time I see his work. Got my sights set on a Terrasaur first and will then go from there. Maybe a Hunter or Bushcrafter who knows. I've got two young sons that will definitely benefit from his work as well. It sure keeps it interesting to say the least to see what he produces. Andy keep up the great work and please tell me you're going to be at the Blade show in 2012.

I very much appreciate all of y'all support! Also, let me emphasize that that the lists, and order taking don't work because of me, not y'all. For this I apologize. It is a failing that I must accept and get by in order to continue making knives every day. Thanks for all your patience with me.

I just recieved a custom folder and I can certainly see why you stopped taking orders. It can really eat up a lot of time working out the details with a buyer. I appreciated the time and effort that maker put into getting my knife just right, but it could have been time he was making knives. I can also see the lag time between order and completion being a real headache. By the time the order gets completed the buyer can be in a different mind set on what he wants, different financial situation, or barely remember ordering the knife. That said I don't really need a custom order from Andy. All I need is the timing to get one of his knives. He already makes them just as I would want. The way you are doing it(selling on the forum) I think gives us the best chance of getting one of your knives. If you were taking orders now your book would probably be closed and orders1-2 years out. That's a lot of words to say, I like the way you are doing it.

Hey Andy....
any Bushcraft's coming up any time soon? I REALLY want one.....

Thanks much.....

Just got back from a few days in Blue Ridge. Used my 12" Fiddleback machete for processing firewood. All I can say is Andy your the man! Cuts deep and quick and the handle is awesome. Buy one while you can, it will be money well spent.

Yep a badass one in CPM S35VN! 3D Spalted style. Woot!

I totally understand. WIP lists can become a pain in the ass very quickly and can not only slow down productivity (because of the time you have to spend managing lists) but also hinder creativity. At least from my experience.

I'm pretty consistant. I finish a batch of either knives or Machetes every Friday. The only time thats not the case is when we are on vacation.

That machete list looked like a whole lot of headache to me. But I am glad I scored because I got me a 16" and it just is a blast to use. Some of the best knife money I've ever spent. Thanks Andy.

Man, it never ceases to amaze me how good it feels when y'all are getting good use out of my tools!

I scored a 16" and its badass. My dad has me on the lookout to score him one now!
