I can't seem to find any store that stocks them. I think it's because they are expensive to ship (Haz-mat fee). If anyone finds a place that still sells them be sure to let us know!

Hi guys, you're on my turf now, I live not to far from the place where they make those pencil launchers.
I live in Holland but 10 miles to the east in Germany they sell them.
There are several types and lately one factory makes them out of space age plastic, it's lighter and using an adaptor to shoot .22 shorts could be not to healthy.
The ones you mean are made by ERMA and are turned aluminium tubing polished and blue anodised.
Anyone who wants one can drop me an email, the only stupid thing is I don't think one can't ship the miniflares (fired by a .22 tiny blank) by Airmail.
Prices are about $15 for 9 flares and $30 for the Erma pencil launcher.
Cheers, Bagheera

If you look at my photopoint gallery you see some flares that I pack with the ERMA pencil launcher (not clear on photo)See; http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=130364&a=1351641&p=14731442&Sequence=0

Jeff, must you guys have EVERYTHING cheaper over there, I can even buy a Philips VCR cheaper in the States then in Holland.

I want a Bulgarian made pencil launcher

I like the idea of "reloading" the flares oneself.

I use the following flare during our classes... demo and performance.

Skyblazer Red XLT Aerial Flares

Description:
Reaching up to 500-feet high with an eight-second burn time, the XLT Aerial flare can be seen for 28 miles in average conditions. Fully self-contained with a reliable pull chain ignition, they are waterproof and will float. Marine version is USCG approved. The Wilderness version has a shorter burn time (six seconds) and is not USCG approved.

Just one of many options.

I got my Skyblazers from the same place I get most of my sofisticated(I can't spell it but I are one), hi quality gear. You guessed it, Walmart!!!
I hope they still have some,I just looked at mine and see that they are way past their expiration date! Thanks for this thread!
If you don't have a WallyWorld close by try a marine (boating) supply shop or site.

p.s. I couldn't find "Orion" anywhere on the packaging of my Skyblazers.Skyblazer, Inc., Anaheim, CA 92806 is what the package says on mine.

Hi Jeff,

In an attempt to support a local small ourdoor store, I have always purchased them locally. Unfortunately, she just went out of business

I will probably purchase them over the net from here on out. I WILL NOT get them at walmart for personal reasons... I will look for another small business trying to keep its head above water. By supporting them, I hope to keep our free market system open (sorry for the political input... I won't let it happen again).

I'll do my search on excite...

Hi Eric ,
I hope this mail finds you well?
I have seen old post of yours about the Erma SG67E flare gun , can you get a drawing of the barrel your friend made for a .22 and the steel he used ?
Cheers

Yes the websites for boating should have what you need. There may even be electronic types . There are electronic road flairs that are DOT approved .Maybe there are boating versions.
