What Knives do you consider signature Busse Knives. Now these are not necessarily your favorite Busses but the ones that when you think of Busse are the ones that pop in your head.

For me by size its.

AK 47
Fusion Battle Mistress
Fusion Steel Heart
Leaner Meaner Street
Active Duty
Game Warden

Chiller, good list Bro!!! Think I would add
HHFSH
SJTAC
ASH-1
BATAC
SHBM
SHSH
SHBA
SHMS

I'm going to say:
  • Steel Heart: simply because of its name. Steel Heart. That's the very epitome of Busse, with such a simple, no-frills design, the stout blade, it's all that Busse stands for.
  • Natural Outlaw: because it's very similar to the Steel Heart and because, if you want Busse to tell you about the anatomy of a Busse knife, it's what they use :)

I'm sure I could get more specific with the model name, but I don't want to get into it because I don't even know what the HH in HHFSH stands for :foot:

HHFSH = Heavy Heart Fusion Steel Heart

Way back when, there was a special run of FSH sold through the Busse Company Store, the operation run by idahoskunk. He had 400 total, 200 in standard micarta scales, 200 in magnum micarta, all black/black. Whereas the standard CG FSH was 0.25", the HH were 0.27", with a sabre grind. They became very desirable knives, many users found them to hit the sweet spot in between the standard FSH and the fat (and expensive) HOG FSH.

In the last few years Jerry has released more FSH at shows that are satin, with a full height flat ground blade of 0.27". Folks are calling those HHFSH, but IMHO that is not correct.

Piglets should read ALL the stickies at the top of the forum, and find the Busse acronym list to further their education.

I agree, I was thinking about this the other day... A lot of .27" FSH's have come down the pipe as of late. But they are not the HHFSH.

For me the SHBM, FFBM and HHFSH are iconic Busse's. The Sus Scrofa is a close runner up.

I remember when it was only these that were available. Loooooooooooong before you had to keep ALL the acronyms straight. Ahh, those were simplier times.

Well, that's kind of part of the problem... there's no HHFSH there, and the only HH listed is the Hell's Hornet. And even still, what does Heavy Heart mean?
I remember back several months ago when I asked what a Fusion handle was exactly, it was you who pointed me out to the same acronym list. I already knew it stood for Fusion and it was a type of handle, but I didn't know what the point of it was, what its advantages and disadvantages were, how to recognize it... so on. I was hoping to help Mike fill out Bussecollector.com's catalog and appendix with more detail and info and pictures, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. But that's the compulsive side of me that has to document everything :p I do feel pretty proud of how much I've learned over time without such an encyclopedic resource of all things Busse.

Not to say the appendix LVC put together isn't awesome already. Because it is.

For me, it would be these:

Battle Mistress (SH, NMF, F)
Steel Heart (SH, BBSH, F)
Badger Attack (SH, Anorexic, TAC)
Mean Street
Natural Outlaw (NMSF, SF)
Basic 11
Tank Buster
Hell Razor
Active Duty
Game Warden

Steel heart seam to be in all the Logo's over the years.

For me I think it will always be the SHBM. Although the Mojo holds a special place for me as well. That was the first Busse I saw and from there I was hooked.

Garth

SHBM because of an article I read about this knife. This triggered my search for Busse knives which again brought me to this forum. Funny enough, I never owned a SHBM but someday will if everything goes right.

Heavy Heart because it is thicker, and therefore heavier, than the standard FSH.

The Fusion handle was before my time. It was the third generation of handle design on the bigger knives. Jerry was experimenting with handle shapes, there were certainly versions we never saw. I think the story was that the shape came from the Fusion of several design elements.

Some Old Boar can correct me.

Oh :p I thought it was because the handle was so comfortable it felt like it fused with the user's hand!

Dave Brown has a point, too, about the Steel Heart being in the Busse logos. If this question can be at all objective, that's a good reason to choose the SH.

The first Busse I ever saw was a basic 9. Then I saw the steel heart and battle mistress and AK-47. Those are Busse to me.

For me it is the Meaner Street, and that is just because I love it. :D
But the knife I love to tell people about is the MOAB. How can you not look at that monster and not think Busse.

The SFNOLE reminds me of Busse more than anything. The saber grind really works on that knife's flow, IMO. The CGFBM is a close second.
