Fella came into the store today with a Chuck Buck Signature knife. Asked me if I knew when it was made and what it was worth. I didn't know. (Hate it when that happens!) The guy's gone but I'm still curious about the knife.

Anyway, I thought, maybe, one of the Buck Forumites might be able to help me out.

It is a 103 with Cocabolo handle, brass fittings and a high polish blade with a gold inlay picture of Chuck Buck and his signature on one side. Very nice knife. Basically, a 103BR with a fancy blade. It also had a burgandy colored sheath that was different than any other Buck sheath that I have seen.

How about it? Does it ring any bells? Any info on when it was made and approximate worth would be greatly appreciated. (The guy claims to have 3 or 4 of them).

TIA,

DW

Dennis,

The Chuck Buck Signature 103 was made in 1989/1990. They were planned as a companion issue to the Al Buck 110. The serial numbers were supposed to match. Originally, 1000 were supposed to be produced, but Aurum Etchings had some financial problems. I think only 200 were actually produced. I think they originally went for $125 to $150. I haven't seen any for sale lately, so I can't really say what they are going for now.

Wow John!
And I thought nobody else knew the answer to that one. :)
About the only thing i can add is that I just saw one sell on Ebay for $122. I think that is low, considering how many were made. (Actually about 250.)

Take care,

Thanks, guys. I gave the fellow a guestimate of around $150.00 so I wasn't too far off.

Appreciate the replys.
