Signature knives, do you use them?

I am new to knife "collecting" and been recently getting more Cold Steel. Just got my first signature piece, which is the Leatherneck Bowie Lynn Thompson signature. Taking the knife out of the box, I am torn between actually using it, or just keeping it in storage.

I am someone who rotates my collection so they get used. But now not sure if I should put some scratch and wear on this.

So, now I am interested, what do you fellow knife folks do with your sig blades?

thanks!

My signature kris ti lites are all safe queens. But that's a personal choice.

Theoretically , all my knives are users at need . ;)

But, I have two other old Vaqueros in AUS8A to carry , so haven't felt the need so far .

I'm keeping the signed box nice also . 😍

Generally no.

I have only one signature knife, and that one is a limited production handmade knife by Newt Livesay, the Sandbar Bowie, and Newt personally signed it with an engraver.

It is also not an outdoor tool with its very acute point and extremely curved clip, so to really use it as it was intended I'd have to get into a Bowie duel, which isn't a good idea.

I do have knives I've purchased with no intention of using, and with the current boxes CS uses for their knives they can be stored in the boxes long term without the boxes being damaged. This past year I've purchased several CS knives solely for collecting. I bought two each of the Master Tanto 3V, Magnum Tanto II 3V, and Magnum Tanto XII 3V, with one of each to use and another to keep new in box. The Magnum Tanto IX 3V I bought last year is also just for my collection though I don't have one for a user.

I generally consider them safe queens, but I bought an extra LT Oyabun to carry and abuse, and I am seriously considering picking up the new LT Spartan to use as well. In any case why not use it? It's a tool.

Thanks all for sharing your experience! I am leaning towards keeping them for collection and not using them. I figured I have enough to rotate usage in my collection. After starting this thread, I ended up adding the LT Spartan :D (thanks @Cristo4958)

But mannn, this hobby is getting expensive. Last night I just ordered a 4max and a 4max scout from "the web site that cannot be mentioned". Getting the urge to jump on something when I know it is a good price. On a good note, my other more expensive hobbies are taking a back seat so I guess I am saving money :)
