Signed ? Kashira

My sword has writing on the Kashira on the top side. Would this be a signature? Is this unusual, I can't find anything about it. Thanks

Sorry, more information..the sword mentioned above was brought back from WWII by my uncle. I don't know much about it or swords in general. It has a 7 character signature and an armory mark on the Tang and paint markings on the other side of the Tang. None of the information I have been reading mentions writing on the End Cap (Kashira)
