From time to time I see these "signed" Sebenza popping up, with Chris' signature at the blade. I am looking for some background info, e.g.

was this done for any particular event, like blades show? Or any kind of anniversary celebration?

did they do this only once? So one run of these knives? Or several times? I have heard they made 130 Sebenza with this signature blade. Can anybody confirm or correct this information?

Did they do this with the "Regular" Sebenza or also with the "Classic".

Thanks. Any additional information you may add is highly apprectiated.

Stefan

As far as I know, he only did this on the limited run of flat ground Sebenzas. Anyone else got more info?

It was told me that he did these sebenzas but should be confirmed from somebody else

How was the signature made? Is it just signed with a pen? Kind of engraved? Can't tell from the pics from the old sales thread (thanks LW).

They were engraved with his signature and date. It is a light engraving that can be seen fully at the right angle.
I think I still have a picture of the one I had. I'll post a pic this evening. The FFG run is the only ones I'm aware of that he signed

I have a Hinderer signed the same way that Rick did for me at a Blade show. He had one of those engravers right there at his booth just for that purpose. It takes maybe a minute with a bit of practice, and has no other effect on the blade.

I heard about these but this is the first time I have seen one, thanks for the photo link Wolfe!

I have one. The blades were signed by Chris himself. They were on the limited run of Flat Grind Large Regular Sebenzas.

Thanks to all of you for sharing information! I cannot figure the year at the one above from Nyefmaker. But the pics from LW's link show year 2002. The pic from Ajack60 shows 2003 and I've heard from others, showing 2001. So did they make this blade and having Chris "signing" them over a period of 3 years ?? I would expect doing a special and limitet run of 130 pcs with signature. You would sign them at once. In that case they would carry the same date or at least a certain period within the same year. Maybe I should ask Anne if she is able to lighten us up.

Edit: Just emailed Anne. Hope to receive some extra information which I will of course update here.

James, Mine is from July 4, 2001. BG-42 Blade.

I also have one. Thanks James for trying to get us the full picture... 15 years ago 130 was a lot of knives.... They may have done a blade run, then leaked them out as production needs allowed.

One of these would be nice to have in the collection.

What would be neat is one that had Chris, Anne and Tim's sig on it. A legacy knife per se. That would be a reach I know, and would need to be on a larger fixed blade to have enough space.
