What knives are significant to the development of manufacture, design, and use? From the earliest days to today, what knives signified change or expansion? What were the first bronze, iron, and steel knives, up to what was the first knife, custom or production, to use PM steel? What were the first folding knives (Roman friction folders from 1st century AD?), the first multiblades, the first locking types (Sebenza as the first framelock (?), which Michael Walker design was the first linerlock, the first locking blade known of, etc)? If you would like to mention makers/companies, could you please mention it through what you find to be the most important knife they produced? What is the most iconic/significant Loveless, Moran, Price, Scagel, so on.

I'd like to get sort of a timeline of various developments in my head, like possible butcher design influence on the bowie, yataghan and kopis leading to the kukri, the Marbles Ideal morphing into the Kabar fighting knife, Blackie Collins first using frn, Sal Glesser introducing the pocket clip, whatever else you guys got :D
