SIGs N' SOGs Anyone???

WarDog, very nice indeed ! Very nice pic, and great knives. I am lucky to have a few SIGs and SOGs myself. :D

Hey Guys,

With all the pictures I've taken of my handguns, knives, and wristwatches, I was certain I had a Sig/Sog combo picture. After several hours of going through over 15,000 images I've taken over the past couple years, I've come to the conclusion that I don't have a Sig/Sog combo to show you.

Well, my Sig is one of my favorite handguns and my Night Vision is one of my favorite knives. So here they are, in hastily taken pictures (just for this thread), for your enjoyment.

Great pics Ron, it's too bad that SOG discontinued the Night Vision it looks like one great knife. :)

Hey Socintel,

Thanks for the compliment. I take better pictures, but at something like 2 a.m. with bad lighting and little drive, that's the best I could do. I've included a better picture below...this time of my EDC watch.

The Night Vision is likely my favorite knife. This one is from the first production run...which also was the first production run of the ArcLock. Because of this, QC evaluation had to be 100%, looking for things like assuring the action was smooth. Over a couple days, me and some guys from R&D when through thousands, opening and closing every model. Because of the over use of my thumb on thumbstuds, I received a caulous and my thumb hurt for days. But the result was that I picked the best of the lot with a smoother than butter action, and it became my personal EDC. The perks of the job!

Thats pretty good for 2 in the morning, it looks as good (if not better) than anything I could ever do. :)

Awesome picture, awesome watch.

P.S. Now I have to find a SOG night vision, let the search begin.:D

Ron, all of those pics look great to me.

Knives, guns, and watches. They go together so well.

Omega wearer around here. My EDC Watch is a 1965 Speedmaster Pro. Original in every detail. Had since new. Also have a 1960 Seamaster (my 18th birthday gift from my dad) and my dad's 1948-49 Seamaster (one of the very first Seamasters). And I just picked up a 1960s Conny "C" model w/original bracelet. Don't know which collection is growing faster, my SOGs or my Omegas. Both are a lot of fun and get utilized almost daily.

Ron, once again: YOU are the man !! And for some reason, even after all this time, I didn't know you were also a stalwart of the other legs of the manly tripod: guns and watches.

I'm not a SIGman myself. My first pistol was a Colt Series 70 Gov't Model, purchased 2 days after my 22nd birthday from the Gun Shop inside the Navy Exchange at the San Diego Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Still have the pistol and was out blasting some tin cans 3 weeks ago.
I have become very biased and prejudiced to the 1911-style because I can single-handedly 100% disassemble and re-assemble. Simple Simple Simple..... so a couple of years ago I got a Kimber Custom II just because it was a good idea at the time.

Watches ?? I went watch crazy in early 2001 and my best one is a Ulysse-Nardin Marine Chronometer, serial number 2297 with the square date. I also have a plain & simple Rolex..... and several other watches too, including a few pocket watchs.
As for Omega's, I've never an Omega man. But I did a very recent good deed and was the go-between to get repaired my friend's 1968 Omega Chronograph. My trusted watchmaker was able to replace the broken mainspring.

And now back to SOG's: this morning my Nite Tech was badly in need of some sharpening. So using my "cheap & easy" method (Richard G. understands) I Smith'ed the Nite Tech into submission, then mousepad-stropped it to scary sharp perfection !!
Then the SOG Bowie seemed dull by comparison so it was stropped back to perfection.
Then (another brand) was stropped.
Then (another brand) was Smith'ed and stropped.
The skin on my forearms now looks like a hairless Chihuahua and the garage floor resembles a barbershop floor.

It's been a fine SOG morning and early afternoon.

Cheers,

Carl

Amazing pics Ron, I am lucky enough to own a NV.

You folks that never handled one of these should really try to look at one sometime. They are IMO the best EDC folder anywhere, bar none. I have carried mine for about 3 years, it is smooth as silk and I have opened/closed it thousands of times and is still solid as a rock and still tight.

There are a few still around, but they are getting harder to find, if you ever locate one, it should last you a long time as long as you don't cut shingles or blocks....... Mine stays in a horizontal leather sheath under the front of my shirt tail, never know it's there, but it comes out in a split second if needed.

What I like best is it can be opened and closed, all one handed in about 1 1/2 seconds flat.
